Ive been considering a towbar for my Legnum for a little while, however it cannot cut into the visible part of the rear bar, and (the tongue) must be removable so you wouldnt know it had a towbar at all. (Dads 2012ish Mazda 6 has a factory towbar like this. very neat setup, tongue is eaily removed and you'd never know it had a towbar fitted)

Ill be keeping an eye on this thread, i mean, im in NSW, but it can probably be E-Go'd for under $100

Let me know how you go with the place in NZ, I'd like to get one, not planning on doing much towing but it would be good to have a nice big 'fuckoff stick' for tailgaters :D

Can anyone say if the towbars are the same for PFL and FL?

I have emailed the company , just waiting on a reply. They may be interested if more people jump on board.

looks like you have to slightly cut the bar. They do not have a removable tongue.

2000 Legnum Mint with 44589ks when I got it. Now with black leather seats. After 3 years of fun some terminal engine bay wiring issues raised their ugly heads and it died. I Now drive a 2002 Legnum and have retired the 2000 to spare parts duty.
There was a towbar place in Manly (QLD) who had bars for Legnum's for about $500 dont know if they still have them but worth a look just in case.

Halls towbars in SA do them, my car has one from them. It was on the car when I got it so no idea what it cost..

they haven't cut anything out of the rear bumper. The tongue isn't removable easily from what I can see, but may be possible to get one modified so it can be?

It does appear that one metal seam under the car had to be cut and bent slightly (~1cm) to let a support past, its not visible unless your under the car and looking for it though.

So it seems plenty of places do towbars, but none seem to have a removable tongue
Otherwise known as a "Titan" hitch or a vertical Titan hitch
Where the square tube/tongue is inserted into the towbar itself with a locking pin,
They all seem to be fixed.

Might see if Coldys (towbars/bull bars) in McGraths hill can fix something up?

(After going for a weekend away riding trail bikes with mates has me wanting a towbar more, so we aren't doing 10km/h up Bells line of road in his 4Runner)

Went to Halls a month ago for a price. He quoted approx $1k for a HD. He didn't really seam interested though!

is that a fixed or removable tongue?
Fixed tongue. The guys looked at it today and want to keep it neat and tidy and avoid cutting the rear bar (2002 model). Even then it will hang low and they will use a 7pin flat due to the ground clearance. The tongue is usually only held in place by 2 bolts anyway making it quick to remove and install. I have it booked in for the end of March. I can post some photos if anyone is interested.

If they would be interested in doing a second 1 at the same time as they do yours I would be keen . I would hope if they made 2 at once the second would be cheaper and we could split the price, should also make what you pay cheaper.

My reasoning for wanting a removable box section tongue is because I'm looking at buying a dirtbike transport rack, which replace the tow ball hitch
Like this one, but a better quality/brand

http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/380854750954

See how the hitch is the same box section that inserts into the towbar, replacing the ball that would normally be there.

I want the vertical hitch for asthetic reasons(so it's hidden when not in use) then I'd be buying a vertical to horizontal adapter to use the bike rack
