Hi folks, im new to the site but i do have a galant so i'm ok. (its a 75 gc galant with 2.6efi turbo motor )

Anywho i am considering buying a 94 Galant and shoving a 6a13tt motor in it.

Can it be done without too much work?
Are the boxes the same? Will the motor bolt to factory box?

Anyone done this before?
Cheers Karl

Or you could, you know, just buy a VR4... It'll be cheaper and less painless!

On the upside, you'll end up with one hell of a sleeper, but having been involved with a couple of engine swaps in the past, I don't envy you the task. Not one little bit.

Galants are still available for around 12-13k land & complied (for an average one).

I have read of this conversion before (can't remember where) but you'll be better off getting an entire front cut of a VR4 and swapping the whole thing thing; box, ps, alternator, starter, radiator. There are also a couple of mounts that need to be moved. Brakes would need to be upgraded for this to pass engineering. Basically a lot of $$$.

Be freakin fun to do though! Good luck.

P.S. What I would do is go the whole hog & try to get a hold of a 4WD floor pan cut out the flat one and weld in the 4WD pan... now it has the capability of having a 4WD tranny bolting into it!!:D Mind you I am having an insane streak at the moment.:)

the task you have ahead will be long and expensive but rewarding. cheak out state laws I think with the 2.6 turbo conversion already you will not have get it complied again so give it a go no harm done. You should stick to the box you have now as it fits and one less head job. Talk to a local engineering shop to see if they can lathe up some conversion plates and shafts to match the input shaft spline and the bolt holes so it will be a bolt in job. then the next biggest thing will be the engine mounts weld some up then find some one that can vulcanize some rubber between the body and engine solid metal ones will vibrate the car to bits at idle. I know a engineer here in south auz so PM me if you need details. Modifying the bonnet is easer then modifying the chassis so mount the engine a little higher rather then cut the engine cradle. a bonnet scoop or ba falcon xr8 looking bonnet will look awesome. But most of all check out the local laws and see if you can get the car registered as a classic or kit car or some sort of hot rod not sure but look at registering it first ( i made that mistake once and was not able to register my kit car) even speak to the nearest hot rod club or kit car club they will have the best tips as most of them all have been tru this (big engine in tiny car) before. GOOD LUCK post the pics as you go!!!!!!!

Dude,

He's looking at getting a 94 galant and then doing the 6A13TT conversion. Not the 75 one.:)

Yea thanks for the replies. My curent galant has already got enough horses :)

Just considering a hj galant as a daily driver, but I prefer cars that go well.

Are there many of the 6a12tt motors running around wreckers/importers?

hi mate, i have looked into doing the same with my HJ.

the 6a13tt is a R/H mount which make a bit of work to pop into the HJ as the stock 6a12 motor is a L/H mount. .. you might want to consider the 6a12tt motor swap as it is a easier quick swap since their both l/h mounts.
cheers.

That interior picture is from an 8G, or did you swap that over too?

It looks like the 7G is now running with the engine on the same side as the 8G, just what work did you do to the car?

may we have pics of your conversion?? I want to see what the finished HJ with a 6a13 looks like.. everything in a hj is mirrored including battery location.
I might be doing something like this as the wreckers didnt offer me any money for my HJ..

im bad in english to explain... here the pic to explain....

changed front chassis with 8g front chassis

i transplant all front cut from 8g to 7g (no bodypart)

Why didn't you go to a 6G72TT? Some guys in the Caribbean did the swap and said it was fairly easy as the 6G72TT from the GTO fits on the same side as a 6A12 in a 7G

question?? is that the Gen 8 Subframe or Gen 7?? and the gaps on the dash are there any or is it a GOOd fitment?well done dude

in my country is illegal to transplant engine more than 30% cc from the stock engine.

question?? is that the Gen 8 Subframe or Gen 7?? and the gaps on the dash are there any or is it a GOOd fitment?well done dude

its gen8 subframe fitted in 7g.... dash is good fitted.

so the subframe just bolted up no problem with original boltup points?

yes... im done with proton(mitsubishi) oem workshop.. it take 6 month to finish this project. 7g body more lighten than 8g so it feel awesome.
