a strange wirey thingy

Well i was out putting in another cig lighter in my galant today and found a strange wiring setup leading to a circut board and want to know what the hell is in my car????

Whats the part number of the chip? Google it, that should give you some indication of what it is and what it may do.

Like Carsten said it is homemade, i used to use boards like that in robotics (a subject not a job) so is there anything extra special about your car like maybe interior lights or flashing stuff etc.

i have a random switch under my steering column which im still yet to work out what it does too... literally it appears to do nothing and it goes into a taped up wiring bundle so cant really 'follow the cable'

What is the blue plug clipped into? Were does it lead to? Do your head light turn off automatically? Even if you know what the chips do you will still need to know were it leads to.

possibly a connection for a turbo timer or alarm system that got removed during compliance??

Maybe a home made imobiliser ? does the car start with the switch on ?

these are all go ideas i will have to get that chip no today.

I dont think that there is anything extra special about my car, but then i have not really had the chance to have another galant/leggy to compare it to...
It does sound a lot more strange more and i am very puzzled as to what it does. I think it might be linked to the AYC but i will have to follow the wires and get back to you guys

from memory it goes to the TCS...... maybe a custom ayc controller(home made)

im not sure how it would be linked or what the intention would be.. maybe it switches off stability control when you switch off traction control

I say pick a wire and cut it, then you'll know if its hooked up to anything.
