Hate to say it, but Marty I think you need either a good Mitsi workshop or an Evo specialist...

I am taking it to Lowe's tomorrow. Though I must say no mechanic has inspired me with their knowledge of these systems. When I rang they kept insisting it was the AYC I was having trouble with, it seemed they had never heard of the ASC.

Not good dude... I wish you the best of luck! And hey, don't let them push you around - if you've been reading all the stuff on here and ClubVR4 you probably know substantially more about these particular cars than they do. Don't let them charge you for their 'learning time' - you're paying a professional to have the knowledge and the experience to solve your problem, you're not paying him for his time to learn about it or screw things up while he figures it out through trial-and-error...

Actually it was obviously just the lacky who answered the phone that had no idea. When I got there Neal obviously knew all about the system.

I described the problem, showed him the car and we went through the options (I even had the service guide on my laptop for trouble shooting the steer sensor).

Decided to look at sourcing a new sensor. No charge for this advice. He has found the price through mitsu parts and I have sent a couple of emails to other suppliers.

So far so good.

The part is about $200 from NZ, can be here in the time it takes for the package to ship. So the price isn;t too bad either.

Update

Neal Lowe fitted the new steer sensor. Good job and very reasonable price.

So far no return of the problem (but still early days).

I was driving to work this morning and out of no where "tcl off and abs" lights came on at the same time. And also that drifting car light was keep flashing. Anyone know what could cause this? I will scan the code when next door have free time.
Thanks heaps

I have had this code for ages.
Mine read as Pressure accumulator sensor system circuit error.
If you find a solution let me know, I have purchased a new ABS module in the hope that the problem is with a pressure leak in the pressure accumulator inside. Haven't replaced it yet bit that's the plan.

When I clear mine it comes back when I hit 50-60km.

mine went off now and hasn't come back on. Check that vacuum canister like Paul said. And let me know if you find solution for it too lol

I am sure I have checked it but I will do it again and test the ECU too and see how it goes.

Vacuum canister is the biggish cream kind of colored canister about level with the middle of the passenger seat with a few hoses from it yeah?

(From memory, I am out at the moment and my brain has Been taking it easy lately)

Mine went away early on in the piece and didn't come back for a while, then it became regular, then permanent :(

Hahaha. Don't worry man, you are not alone. From what I can remember I thought it was the blackish colour one around engine bay? I am not too sure either. But once I find out where it is I will let you know.
