Air Conditioning Pump

Having a really bad squeeking noise (like a bearing noise ???) coming from air con pump on start.
When the pump first engages it comes in with a really bad clunk, ( this only happens once then its fine)
As the car starts to warm up the noise starts to go and does eventually go away, aircon works really good though no issues there, just not happy with the clunking and the noise it puts out.

Any ideas ?

How hard is it to pull these pumps out?
and are the EVO pumps the same ?

Yeah mine clunks too when it kicks in - no squeaking. Aircon works a treat though...

isnt that its normal operation since its got magnetic clutch?

It has always had a slight clunch, but the clunch it has now just about stalls the car when i first starts up. Deffinetly not normal operation
