Well, i feel i'm nearly at the end of my VR4 ownership. I've always said i wanted to keep this car, I just love them but my current work situation is pushing me into having to get rid of it :(

Basically i'm needing to get a ute for work, because the VR4 isn't something i want to throw tools into and take along to building sites. I could get a cheap ute and keep it but don't have room for two cars nor want to afford running two either, because i know i'd keep pouring money into the VR4 for mods :p

So i'll be having to make a desision witin the next few weeks on what to do but it's starting to look more likely i'll end up in a ford or holden:eek: (Had a look at a nice XR8 today)

You heard it here first....

I have thought about making up a roughly ute tray piece of mdf/steel to slot into the boot of a Legnum with the seats down for carrying wood or engines or whatever.

You'd end up with a space about 1.6m long, .9m wide and obviously as high as you want to make the sides, around 0.7m is realistic.

Or find one of those rubber boot liner things as another option.

I totally get not wanting to throw your tools in the back of it.... however I would much rather throw my tools in the back than be stuck in a bogandore or a whord.

Do what you gota do Brain, its only a car and you'll own plenty of em over the years. Get the ute man, you'll be better off for work, or get somthing like a Hilux? I had one for a little bit, and they're fun fun as to bash around in.

One of my mates is looking to get a work ute.. But he is staying away from SS and XR8 utes because continually taking them to building sites and transporting tools and stuff, they end up getting so messed up and scratched and what-not..

Just something to think about I guess :)

I would love a big V8 ute but, would be hell fun!

Considered the hilux would be great do some off roading and stuff but not over the power and speed thing yet lol, never owned a v8 but the xr6turbos would be cool too,

totally understand that the ute will get knocked round with work and that but still want something reasonable nice too!

If you must get a ute avoid the XR8 like the plague and go straight to the XR6 Turbos. Those things are absolute weapons by all accounts. About the only thing the XR8 has over it is noise. The turbo is faster, more economical and just a better overall weapon.
Have heard GREAT things about the XR6T and nothing but bad comments for the XR8, mind i have driven neither.
I know what you mean about the Leggy, too damn nice to chuck dirty work gear into.

How about keeping the leggie and just setting up a sort of trust fund to repair scratches and dings with the extra coin that you would otherwise spend on 'upgrading' to a ute?

I cart lawn mowers, blowers and fuel, tools, plants and other stuff for work. I just accepted that the car might be a little worse for wear. I've got a rubber mat in the boot and covered the rest of the rear interior with a large curtain its holding up really well after a year. I don't know what you paid for yours but for the cost of mine i could not find a decent ute so i use it instead.

Yea i understand you can put gear into the boot but the tools i carry is things like air compressor, nail guns, ladders etc, all up a few hunderd kilos of gear, all up my boss's trailer weighs well over a tonne, the leggie just is too nice and not suited to the work that would be required of it.

Sell price is tricky tho, i need decent coin for it to help fund another car, which for a lot of people they will prefer to wait and import themselves, on the other hand it's fully optioned nearly, manual sunroof recaros etc, plus the 100,00km service has been done and has brembos etc done too as well as the front kit, all up fair amount of $$ on mods, so i not sure what i may be asking for it yet...

I have the same issue as you, not enough space to keep two cars at home. my plan when i (finally) get a vr4 is to keep the vr4 in lockup at a local storage yard untill the weekends, then swap it with the navara. I havent investigated it much further but it might be an idea, if cheap enough.

yea thats a good idea, however for me, owning two cars + rent + mortgage + cost of storage i just can't afford so thats a no go either

I think if it was me i'd sell after you've explained what you need a car for. At least you've had the pleasure of owning it for a while

yeah there is no point trashing it, and with gear like you carry there isnt really another option other then the sale, just a pitty to see it go to other owner, its a great looking car thou and hopefully the new owner will look after it as well.

Ok, this is a heads up for people on here, but the car is going to be put up for sale :(:(

Simply cannot keep it, but be warned it won't be cheap. I know some people don't like the idea of expensive when it can be purchased easily from japan at a lot less money so please keep that to yourselves, however i have considered many things when coming up with the price and think it is pretty fair considering.

Also i have a bottom line at where i will not sell under because it is simply going to be better off for me to keep it and work around my issue for selling...

It is a sad day:(:( Post will be up later..

Sorry to hear Bryan :(.... Interested to see the price now but :p

I can just see this thread with "Will consider swaps for Bugatti Veyron or Lambo Reventon with cash my way"

Good luck with the sale. I'm sure the car will be worth whatever you'll be asking :)
