In a VR-4, when the car is off, does the fuel needle point at the correct level or does it point at the bottom?

The reason I ask is that I haven't driven the car in about 2 months and I have NO idea how much fuel might be in the car, other than that the needle is pointing to E at the moment, and I can't be bothered to reconnect the battery and start the car now.

My car is off and the needle is showing 1/8th tank (as usual). But you said your battery is dead, maybe they still use a little bit of juice to run the gauge?

They all stay at the correct level as Genelle said ,but if the battery has been disconected it possibly is not showing correct so you may more have fuel than it's showing. Mel

Also, the fuel could be shot having lost its Ron value sitting there doing bugger all, so no thrashing it!

Yeah I know, I'll be leaving Auckland at 4am tomorrow and filling up at the closest BP, then driving slowly for about 490km to get to Palmerston North. (Then another 390km to Gisborne, then another 180km to get to Whakatane)

I don't know about you guys but mind is not, the needle points to the bottom (empty) when the car is turn off. Then switching on, it goes back and point on the level of fuel.

YES, I have triple checked it to sure and it does work that way.

mine sits at the correct level, although I would prefer it not to show how much fuel is available when the car is off.
