G'day,
How much effort do the peeps with ASC have to put it to make it activate?? Mine seems to be ultra sensitive, activating at even mild/slow cornering speeds, ie through town.

What does ASC actually activate??

Cheers, Bart.

ASC or AYC? The reason I ask is that I've found AYC is reasonably easy to get to come up, but in the one Legnum I had with ASC I found it fairly hard to get it to come up unless I was driving on gravel, or intentionally doing stupid things around roundabouts

I agree with Brad. To my knowledge, I've never had the ASC take control of the vehicle. I'm assuming a light would show on the dash if it were engaged?

AYC, on the other hand, is commonly engaged on my car. :)

What does ASC actually activate??

Applies breaks to wheels, reduces engine power.

And just to be clear, AYC (Active Yaw Control) and ASC (Active Stability Control) are different things. Although similar in their application, their purpose is very different. ASC reduces wheel speed via the ABS and TCL to keep the car from loosing control and spinning. AYC reduces wheel torque via the AYC diff to get you around the corner faster and more tightly.

I've found getting 3 lights on the AYC is a piece of cake in a manual, but on a tiptronic you have to be driving a bit harder to get them to come on.

It's definately the ASC, as its not the AYC bars below the dials, its the orange light with the skids behind the car in the upper right of dash cluster. It also happens the same when the TCL is OFF! hmmm a sensor is off somewhere..... the steering wheel is a bit off centre when driving straight, could this help trigger it prematurely??

Cheers Bart

hmm, get all the wheels aligned and make sure you've got a similar amount of tread across the tyres and see if it gets any better.

And yes, it does use steering wheel position to sense!
