Hey people, at the moment I am the proud owner of 2 Garrett GT2554R's but before I install them I have to organise what ECU im going to use.
Most likely its gona be the new Haltech P2000 sport which can be used with an auto trans. The stock ECU will still be in the car to control the Auto and the Haltech will controll the engine.

Just want to ask all the experts out there what signals does the stock ecu send to the auto ecu?
Is it just TPS & RPM signal?

All I can say is good luck and I hope you have more luck than I did.

Rob, maybe you should buy Madhav's box to save mucking around later.

Good luck tho, this will be very interesting to see.

Why not just use a piggy back ?

A piggy back won't let you adjust enough to run bigger turbos.

I'm not sure if anyone has worked out what goes to the auto ECU. Perhaps Kat is working on it?

I'd recommend the Vi-Pec I have in my car except you'd have the same issue of needing to know which outputs need to go to the auto ECU.

cheers

Maybe an ECU flash is the right option?
wouldn't that allow customization of basically everything but still give you proper gbox control?

Quite possibly, I think people have only tried minor tweaking so far.

A replacement ecu also lets you scrap the MAF in favour of a MAP sensor and open up the intake which I think is a big plus.

Oh ok so people like Valmes are wrong about piggyback units ?

Oh well, I've wasted good money then

Hehe not wrong :)

The EManage ultimate is a good choice, but IMO the extra $1000 for the ViPec was worth it to be able to go to a MAP sensor and get the extra features of a standalone.

I got a MAP-ECU2 :p

It allows removal of the MAF and its a piggyback

Hey Stuii a flash is out of the question cos I have a MH7203 ecu which is not flashable.
The Haltech P2000 sport has been fitted to cars with autos in the states and a workshop in Morwell Vic does it but but im not driving to Morwell just to fit an ECU. The Haltech ECU even has functions for the torque converter.
The reason im going full ECU and not piggyback is that I want more tunning options with the bigger turbos and new fuel system(pump, reg & injectors) and also I want to remove the MAF and use a MAP sensor.
RPW supplies this unit for about $2800 but an ebay store in the US sells the unit with bonus sensor pack for $1790US delivered.

Remember people I will be leaving the stock ECU in the car to control the Auto. If all goes ahead the Haltech will only control the engine.

Check these out first dude, they are around $1000 (MAP-ECU2 to your door, well that what it cost me when the Aus Dollar was weaker). And they allow removal of the MAF and allow control of larger injectors etc.

Might be worth the savings. The second gen one does crap loads of stuff.

I'd say after what I've read on the MAPECU forums, this will definitely be the road I'll be going down. Thanks again Craig.(y)

Finally got the answer I was looking for. For all the people that have an auto trans and want to install a full stand alone ECU, the new Haltech P2000 sport can be used.

The unit is a full stand alone ECU that can be wired in as a piggy back. So yes the car will still have the original ECU and auto ECU as well as the Haltech unit to control fuel and ignition.

I have been to G&D performance in Dandenong to see one in action and these units have a shit load of features like direct fire injection and a built in 2.5 bar map sensor the the MAF can be removed.
