Hi All,

Unsure if this has been posted but since my local mechanic has had issues with Mitsu AU parts I had to hunt around for md752072 myself. I'm sure its pretty easy to find if you know what your doing but here's a link for those to lazy to make calls/drive to places to find out:

I'm guessing most mechanics do this as part of an A/T flush? Got my A/T flushed a little while ago and was curious whether this would normally be replaced or should I be looking to get it done next service?

I would think it should be replaced every time you get the oil changed as you wouldn't leave a old engine filter on after a oil change

just to add a bit of noob question, where is this AT transmisson oil filter actually located?
thnks guys

You don't have one Dre on your Series 2 VR4 they we're only fitted to series 2 up till a build date of April 1999, they're on all Series 1 VR4's. The A/T filter is on top of gearbox, adjacent to airbox.

Edit: Correction - As pointed out by qball Post 8, thanks Dave.

They were fitted to early series 2's - after doing some searches in ASA it looks like they changed to no A/T oil filter in April 1999.....

Coopers make a generic replacement too.
Available at Autobarn for under $10.

I have one on the purple Vr4 99 model. If you take off the snorkel for the air box and look down into the engine area you may see it. Having said that my white 99 doesn't have one so it must be later 99 onwards that don't have them

OK so s2 april99 above doesn't have the filter on the tranny, thanks Kat

no wonder i couldnt see it anywhere, i thought it would be inside the tranny oil pan and somehow the tranny oil circulate thru it, thus will be a pain to change it.
but now its a relieve..hehe..
