AYC Rear Diff And Non-AYC Rear Diff

Hi,

Now i know most EC5A & EC5W Galant/Legnum have AYC, I have seen some without the AYC and heard without the AYC its a stronger rear diff, is that true ?

Also is it easy to swap from a ayc to a non-ayc ? really worth it or not ?

And heard that the non-ayc are same as the evo's that dont have ayc ? anyone know if its true ?

AYC do they have LSD ?

all preface-lift models have ayc.
after that it was an option.
the autos have TCL.
which i think is the integration of ABS and traction control.
AYC is remarkable.
haven't driving a legnum with out it but you can feel it help you around the corners.
not sure what you mean by

sorry i dont think they are.
the gearboxes are the same.
Some one with a bit more experience should be able to give you a definite.

They are interchangeable but are not identical.

diff casings are different

internals in the non ayc diffs are interchangable. not sure of ayc




but, you can fit an evo rear diff casing in a vr4 subframe with some spacers on the bolts.

My question is were any VR4's/Legnums released with LSD's? I think that's the thing I miss most about the Evo.

The gearboxes and diffs are different to Evo's. Evo's have rear LSD's, some have front LSD's.

AFAIK there were no LSD's from factory, I did a little bit of searching ages ago when I wasn't sure about buying one with AYC. Now that I've got one with AYC I don't think I would go without it . In response to the O.P. I don't see that it would be worthwhile buying one with AYC and then swapping diffs to remove AYC, unless it broke. Didn't someone upgrade to an S-AYC? Bradc?

few people hav S-AYC. frozen and bradc i think. might be one or a few more

dawso has a rear LSD in his.

a lsd rear conversion is on my list of possible mods.

When the AYC is off (disabled or pull fuse) it's horrendous

Normal LSD would probably be pretty fine.

yeah i thought so about it being stronger,

but disappointed about LSD, cause i was ganna import a rear manual diff legnum but hard to get any photos to see if its a possible LSD, so might not get it now, i dunno why i thought most manual had LSD.

buy a quaife diff you can get them to replace either the ayc or non ayc diffs.. they are awesome.

Any kit designed to replace the AYC diff in an EVO will work to convert your car to a rear LSD and be near bullet proof
