hi hows it going?

looking at getting a legnum pretty soon, as my username suggest i do a bit of fabrication work, ive done a fair bit for work on mazda 323/familias and lasers

At the moment i have a mazda bg familia sedan, with 1.8turbo(bpt) garrett gt2871rs, sard 38mm external wastegate, fmic, 3" exhaust, custom top mount manifold and dump pipe, custom intake plenum, custom radiator, etc etc

Anyway im sick of busting gearboxes and poring money into it and i want something a bit more comfortable and its time for a change.

So im looking at getting a legnum series2 hopefully with, sunroof, brembos (save me putting them on), mmcs, and manual, in silver, black or white.

Planning on a few mods already, more then likely exhaust, dump pipes, fmic, turbo intakes, ebc and some decent gauges to start with and then some custom manifolds to hold some larger turbos, injectors and an after market ecu to control it all.

I want to have a nice reliable street car thats different to everything else (probably why you all own legnums, yes?)

Thought i would say G-day.

thanks

Brenton

Welcome to the site Brenton. The Familia sounds like you put a lot of work into it - have you got any pics?

You'll be pretty happy with the gearboxes on the VR4's - they're really strong for stock units.

That long list of features will leave you with a rather short list of cars, unfortunately. At least you're flexible on colour! There are VERY few cars that go through the auctions pre-fitted with Brembos, and the last one I saw looked a bit the worse for wear. Anyway the sooner you have a chat to one of our resident importers (if that's the way you want to go) the better so they can start looking for your dream car - both Kris and Ben are great guys and really know their stuff.

Anyway you'll find enough reading material around here to keep you going for months, so good luck and enjoy the search - as difficult as it is waiting for a new ride, that sweet anticipation really is a special feeling.

What Trev said but I wanted to add that you might be a bit disappointed if you wanted to go to bigger twin turbos as there ain't much room left to mount them. Your best bet is to fabricate the mountings for a bigger single.

No no, 2 turbos are better 1;). Just fabricate hi flow manifolds for garrett GT2554r's then we'd be looking at 300+ awkw!!

Oh and welcome to the forum!:)

How big are the Garretts and will they fit in?

there is a decent amount of room in there if you make custom manifolds from the engine to the turbos. Peter you can have a look i have the engine back in the galant to check clearances without all the other junk and turbos out

thanks for the warm welcome guys, ive been reading on hear for a fair bit, and it seems to be a fairly tight nit forum (maybe due to the lack of numbers/legnums compared to other forums) which is good by the way!
ozvr4 got blocked at work due to its excessive use:ROFLMAO:, im in the office at the moment on light duties due to a sliced tendon in my hand. I cant really do much due to it so I've been doing a fair bit of net surfing and reading, looks like i will be able to fit bigger twins but only really with new manifolds, which shouldn't be a problem;) Brembos are not a huge must but would be a bonus i spose, standard brakes will need replacing sometime anyway, which will give me an excuse to put brembos on, same with the mmcs only a bonus, but the sunroof is a must!!!

came up with a big single idea last night in bed (were most of my pondering is done :ROFLMAO:) bit different to other setups I've seen, i think it will work just not quite sure till i get a legnum first!!

I would like to import one but not sure if i could wait that long, so maybe one already landed just needing compliance, ill see what pops up i spose.

Hopefully have a deposit down either way in a month or two, Im getting married in November so i hope to have something set in concrete by then,
I'm stripping my car slowly and selling off the go fast bits and returning to stock so i can recoup some money.

hears some pictures (fuel rail, speedflow and regulator not installed then)

thanks again for the warm welcome

Hi Brenton,

Welcome to the site, I know what you mean about waiting for an import. My Galant VR4 will land tomorrow (Sunday) I have waited about 3 months for it to freaking land!

Now its gonna need to get complianced and registered so thats at leats another good 2 weeks.

If your extremely impatient then buy one here, if you can wait you will save yourself THOUSANDS of dollars importing one.

Anyway good luck with it all mate!
