Brake squeal - what would you do next?

You have seen the light! Mine have been on for around a year now. I think all up it would have squealed 20 times. I still get it a bit when reversing tho.

Those Elig pads seem to have kept a couple of you happy. I might have to give them a go.

unfortunately the Elig 2021 didnt make the squealing disappear.. but it takes a little longer for the squealing to appear compared to Bendix ultimate or the QFM HPX..

might try what Irwin's using..

Irwin has Project Mu discs though doesn't he?

I am hoping putting a seal kit through the calipers helps... Past that I might try swapping the rotors side to side. I think my LHS front has more squeal than the RHS. I'll see if the squeal follows the disc.

he did, but recently replaced the whole set with Tri-Net Rotors - they are cross drilled & slotted and matched with GiroDisc Pads (all 4 corners)

Have swapped mine left and right.. didn't make any difference, also my squeal is more on the LHS.. But when I've heated them up properly... both sides squeal like a B I T C H..

Righteo,
I wont bother swapping them side to side.

If all else fails I'm thinking of getting project mu discs + pads and selling my current discs to some chump on ebay.

Craig, Gorgath is using the Girodisc pads and trinet rotors and reported that he hasn't had any squeals at all..

and with the elig's I am using the 2021 and have squeals when hot already... and what's weird is, its worse when its raining.. so whatever is causing the squeal is still unknown..

wow man, that sucks :( I hate phantom problems like that. I thought you might have had it all sorted.

guys i've been reading this thread from the start
since I just had a squeal too on my front pads
It only happened since I put new wheel bearings, A1RM pads, on my stock rotor disc.

I've tried to score and file the pads down, which helped reduce the squeal from loud to not so loud, but its still squealling, which I am not happy about it.

its only happens to driver front side, and I only have one explanation for it.
The disc rotor is actually wobbly since I changed the wheel bearing, when i take off the wheel, the rotor actually come loose.
While the other 3 sides the rotor does not come loose when I took the wheel off.

Has anyone here has a loose disc rotor when the wheel is off ??
Because this might contribute to that squealling noise, in my case anyway.
Somehow if the disc rotor does not sit concentric as it was, it'll caused squealling.

the rotors should easily come off whenever you remove your caliper/mounts, whether its brembo or stock 2 pots.. if it doesn't usually a tap or 2 on the side lets it loose..

I still haven't tried the trinet rotors as I needed the funds elsewhere but will try it soon.. I'm kinda getting sick of this squealing issues..

I was looking at the trinets but the guy wanted ~ $500 just for postage. I'm still waiting on a reply for the R1 rotors but I hope the postage on them isn't stupid.

Im referring to my rotor is came loose already, even before i remove the caliper/mounts.
So once i took my wheels off, then there is no pressure againts the rotor, and rotor is loose.

While on the other 3 sides, the rotor is not loose unless i remove the calipers.

Normal, the wheel clamps the rotor in position.

Apologies for the french below.

So I spent like a billion dollars too acheive nothing like others on here.

+ Full seal kit through the front calipers.
+ new Elig 2102 pads
+ got the fucking useless THANKS RDA slotted discs machined... just in case.
+ new shims
+ a load of spray on break squeal dampener (the type that you spray on and let dry inbetween the shim / pad

The squeal is marginally better, but loud as fuck when it gets hot.

I got the work done at a brake shop because I didn't have time. So labour + seals (I prob didnt need) + pads I really didnt need (I have 3 spare sets now...) and shims...

And from my careful research and much time wasted... I really can't see it being anything past the RDA slutted rotors just being a fucking useless highly incompatible steel compound that loves to squeal.

My next move is to dump the rda rotors for something else, anything else even. I might see if someone on the evo forum wants to swap me for their stock discs.

Good times and much RDA hate. I'll never in my life. EVER. EVER, fucking ever. Did I say ever yet? Buy ANY RDA product again. True story. The amount this ordeal has made me hate driving my beloved car is phenominal.

I'd say the discs were developed for Evo's which are lighter so with the extra weight of our cars they just don't match.... that's a wild guess and totally un backed up.. kind of like RDA and there fucking useless product.

Hugh - i feel your pain going thru all these to the extend just getting to resolve your brake squelling. I hope you'll find the solution you after in no time.

just in this squealling topic guys, have any of you use A1RM with standard rotor, and getting this squeall?

Coz that is what happened to me at the moment
I might overhaul my calipers and pads again on the weekend, and try to clean and sand the pads down a bit
coz this noise is very annoying
