Hey all, i am currently in neg with Joe who is selling his Legnum online here and i thought i might get an idea on how we BOTH can go about safely dealing with each other considering i am on the GC and Joe is in VIC ? Our main concern is how to go about the exchange of funds/vehicle. Also, Joe will be selling it unreg as we ncant transfer interstate, what my concern is although Joe's Legnum is in VGC and is fully complied and has passed rego down there, how will i go getting it reg up here considering it has some bolt-on mods? All suggestions appreciated. Ta

Suggest your best bet is to get joe to reg it for 3mths. fly down and drive it back.

You'll pay TWICE the stamp duty if you register it in two different states. I highly recommend you send an email to Kristian of Iron Chef Imports as he deals with cars all over Australia regularly and I'm sure he'll be happy to give you some advice.

You can't get 3 month reg in Vic, so that's not an option. You won't pay duty twice if you register in in Victoria then re-register in Queensland, Queensland transport will register the car duty free on presentation of evidence of payment of duty in Victoria. Or at least that's how we do it here, I'm pretty sure Queensland is the same. Your best bet though is to find a car transport company and have the car sent to you on a truck. I've heard quotes from anywhere from $200 to $600 for the trip between Victoria and Queensland.

Joe has said he has been quoted $1070 to get it up here. Also do you have any thoughts on what i said about the possibility of the exhaust, suspension and FMI passing Qld rego??

This place is not the cheapest I have heard of, but $740 depot-depot certainly not the $1k+ you have been quoted. http://www.cevacarcarrying.com.au/Quote/QuoteEntry.aspx

I don't know anything about the registration standards in Qld, but I reckon as long as you can get a roadworthy you should be fine for rego. And you should be able to get a roadworthy easily with mild mods like those. I know in Vic it would be no problem at all.
