Camber Kits & Slotted Discs

Hi all. We took Bella's car in for a wheel alignment and balance today, the rear left wheel is toeing out 3 degrees. The bloke said he couldn't adjust it and would require a camber kit. Is this right? And if so, how much are they? Also, I was checking the discs and they look kind of dark blue, and wondered what your suggestions would be for slotted discs. And which pads would you recommend?

That is the camber Brad, 3 degrees out. The bloke was saying he could not adjust it, and it needed a camper kit put on it. This is why I am inquiring about it. You can notice how much the left rear wheel is on an angle, and as you know, the tyre will eventually wear on the inside. What do you recommend? Also, went for a drive in Newy today to look for your shop, but I am not sure if I seen it. We were going to pop in and say G'Day.

Toe Out of 3 degrees is a lot. What camber was it running at the rear?

Again then, toe out doesn't equal camber ;)

How much camber are you running on the rear? What is the distance from the centre of the rear wheels on both sides to the bottom of the guard?

Ok, I guess I don't mean toe out. But as for the camber, if you're looking at the rear of the car, the right rear wheel is nearly straight up and down, where as the left rear wheel leans in at around say 30 mm. I hope I am making sense. If not, let me know, and I will see Beaurepairs tomorrow and ask them for the data print out, and I scan it for you to see. Sorry if I am not being clear on this.

I'm guessing something is bent then, most likely the arm coming up from the hub that is aimed vertical and curves over the top of the wheel.

Will check it out tomorrow, thanks for the help. I will try and take some photos, but doubt will that be available as the car is sooooooooooooo low and I haven't any ramps or stands to crawl under it, (as a matter of fact, I even have trouble crawling under my 4WD, LOL).

I kinda like this one. RotorDiscs

I believe these types of discs are common on race bike the 'flower' like shape lowers the moment of inertia making the bike easier to 'throw around'. i cant really see an advantage in a car tough.

Rotors with these designs have advantages and dis-advantages. A) the reduced weight and added cooling capacity is an advantage but B) It has a smaller surface area so it loses out with stopping power to a similar sized solid rotor.

OK, so I went to Beaurepairs and picked up the diagnostic report for the Legnums wheel alignment. I still am yet to crawl under the car to look for anything that may be bent or damaged on the left rear, will do this on Sunday along with an oil change. Is anybody able to tell me what you may think could be causing the left rear camber to be out so far?

Around 1.5 degree camber is perfectly normal for Legnums. My Turquoise VR-4 with stock suspension has around the 1.4 degree camber mark.

There is clearly something wrong with that one wheel though, is it physically any further backwards or forwards in the wheel arch? I suspect an arm is a bit bent.

Yowie,

the target data they are using on that sheet are wrong, i.e. its not for a legnum, its for a carisma (isn't that a european lancer??)

here is what the factory setup is supposed to be as long as you have factory standard suspension.

I'm not any type of expert on what the issue is with the rear left wheel, but I'd say Bradc is probably on the money.

I will look this weekend, maybe someone can look tomorrow (Saturday), but it all feels good, except for the stupid over run in the tyre making it bounce up and down like two rabbits. Going to speak to car yard about the tyre.

Yep, yep. I do have those specs thank you Kat. I researched the forums after the wheel alignment, and will be printing it out to take back to Beaurepairs and say......."OI, you need to this again for or I'm going to kick you in the nuts."

mmmmm, yep, neutering will certainly get they're undivided attention.

looking at that spec sheet, ur left rear is certainly screwed. all other corners look spot on tho.

it can be one of many things. like brad has said, possibly a bent control arm. or even the shock absorber could be sagging making the car unbalanced and forcing another 1.5 degrees of camber on that corner.

what suspension mods have u done. have u dont the rear camber fix? maybe one of the bolts have come loose.

somethign was mentioned to me bout a stubb axel being the cause ? getting fixed under waranty asap
