Car iphone App

For any of u other iphone users out there there are a couple of iphone apps that will come in handy.
The one I'm most interested in is called Dynolicious.
This app used the accelerometer in the iphone to workout HP and 0-100 and 1/4 mile times.
There are another two called gmeter and g-tac, but after reading the Dynolicious website it seems the most professional and tested on a drag strip.

I'm going to use this app this weekend and post the results

Double damn, a previous order I cancelled at Jegs in the USA just arrived, so it looks like I have 2 gtechs and an iphone. I can always sell them on ebay I guess.

Yeah it would be interesting to test them both. I just installed the app so I will eventually... haven't really tested the gtech yet, played around a little gotto find a long stretch of road and no people.

We can test them at the next meet lol.

Just curious who has a i phone and who their carrier is?

I work in an optus shop and a heap of customer's say that optus is too expensive for the i phone. So a unbiased opinion would be cool. Oh and if you are in SA we have 2x 16gb black and 1x 16 white i phone up for grabs on optus plans only tho.(in stock no delays) First in best dress!!

Ive had my iPhone for 11months, bought it oversea's and cracked it. I'm just on a normal plan ;)

That said, I guess you have to pay for this Dynolicious?

Trust me there is no way u would use 5gb of data ...
$49 for 250mb data and $300 calls with Optus is more than enough.
The data usage is so low and I receive emails, surf safari and dl apps on it everyday. I guess it depends what ur using it for, but 5gb is a massive overload.

5GB would be good if you could use the iphone as a modem to connect ur laptop to the net also. However I think the iphone can't do 3.5G HSPDA speeds anyway only 3G. I agree that 5GB is overload, i'm on a 250mb plan and am hardly use any of that data.

Yep, dynolicious is $13.

The download speed via 3G I got is around 170kb/s, on 3.5G I scored 320kb/s.... I guess it's ok, but not good enough to use everyday. I just checked virgin and the deal is $100 for 5GB which is crazy compared to Vodafones deals.

Will these apps also work on a PDA/pocket computer with GPS?

Nope the apps are written obviously for the mac OS, but they don't use GPS. They use the accelerometers that the iphone has to determine the orientation of the device. Oh and a few crazy mathmatical calculations.
To make it more accurate it would make sense to also use the GPS, but they don't. I guess this is so they can use the app on the 1st gen iphone and ipod touch which don't have a GPS sensor.

They should do an upgraded version for the new iPhone... Sounds interesting anyway, I'm keen to check it out some time :)

I work for Telstra, i can vouch that our plans suck compared to Optus, Optus is the killer.. However, heaps of people seem to be buying their iphone outright through telstra and then paying the $150 unlocking fee to go to another carrier.. i am so puzzled as to why??? That just seems stupid when you get the phone included in other carriers caps...

That's cool that it has apps for cars aswell.. how accurate are they?
