So a few weeks ago my bottom radiator hose cracked, replaced for $211, I've been having weird smoking, some clear leakage and my rocker cover gasket is leaking(which I will get fixed at 100,000). Of course I had to get my torque converter seal replacedt when I got my car about 6 months ago for ~$1200. Now my Windscreen is cracked.. anybody have similar unlucky streaks with their cars?

Feeling a bit sorry for myself now lol

On the upside I hurt a Commdore drivers feelings and enjoyed driving my car again having been given a loan car.... and it was

DRUM ROLL

A Commodore... without working heaters.

The irony.

we've got a thread of things that have gone wrong with your vr4 :P for this exact reason - it happens to alot of us :D

Lol, I think I just got flashed doing 110 on Tonkin too *sigh*

anyone else notice on the thumbs down smilie that his hand is the wrong way? as in the thumb should be on the other side of his hand? unless he is just giving a really strange thumbs down across from the other side :S

Lol, at the smiley ^

bradc, never said they weren't reliable thats why I said unlucky streak :( and it's a really unlucky streak. Hopefully all will be better soon :) still doesnt stop me feeling sorry for myself... I just want to drive my damn car without anything going wrong lol... and to be able to spend money on aftermarket parts and not repairing stock parts :P

Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket hahha

Yeah that was including labour since I'm way too noob and definately not adventurous enough to try fixing things myself with my track record of things breaking lol. I do have the service manuals from NZ though.

Yeah ive been some what unlucky too. Had the car roughly 2-3 months.

First week broken accessary belt due to bad bearings. Changed belt and broke again. probably a sign i need to do timing real soon.

Second week AYC light comes on when weather is warmer. Did AYC service to no avail. I read in other threads that its due to pump loosing pressure. Havent fixed this one yet as pumps are hard and far to come by and cost $1000+

Third week, front brakes make shudder under medium-heavy braking. buy DBA4000's to replace only to decide to fit brembos. cant winge. was gonna happen anyways teehee.

Fifth week notice petrol smell and bad fuel mileage. Repaired what i thought was a leaking fuel tank only to work out after it was a faulty fitting on the top of the tank from factory.

Yes so far the car has been a real pain in the backside to maintain... I thought i did really well when i picked it up for 9K but i cant complain really. Its still ok even with the fixes i guess. And the cost of maintenace is far less than what im spending to make it go stop n turn anyhoos.

Ive owned a civic, calibra (what was i thinking), commodore (i know i know), hiace, hilux, and a R33 GTR series 3 before i made it R.I.P

I have to say the Legnum is without a doubt the best all rounder out all! Performs, looks good and actually has a big boot (if i take my doof doof boxes out)

Phong - have a search for AYC switch. You can use an adjustable one to cure that problem.

I'm hoping things go up hill after 100,000 lol, after the layout for the timing belt and rocker cover gasket I'll actually be able to start spending money on aftermarket mods and not fixing things.

I've had a good run. Done 16,000 and been a year since I got the car (almost) and only really had to do regular services. Just bent my rim a bit on a savage pothole out on the backroads today so i'm interested to see how much that'll cost me, and if it can be fixed.
