Will they pass RWC and a Vic Roads inspection? I'm not exactly sure what type they are, Tein somethings and height adjustable.

Never ever seen vicroads check for coilovers. They usually just break balls if the car is too low.

Vicroads Greensborough are awsome, they very rarely check anything aslong as you have all your paperwork ready.

Roadworthy made me take them off. When i took the car to vic roads, they looked at the engine for 2 minutes and sent me on my way. I had bilsteins in.

I had mine recently clear roadworthy with Tein Super GT Wagon coilovers. The guy doing the roadworthy knows his shit and works on V8 supercars, and said the deal is the suspension needs to be quality gear and similar design to stock for it to pass. For example, if your car previously had separate locations for the spring and the shock (i.e. like a Commodore rear end) it won't pass roadworthy.

Adjustable spring seats are not within ADR's so they shouldn't. Good to see him using logic rather than ticking boxes :)

I found this Vic Roads newsletter for testers which confirms what my tester said:

    https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/~/m...usiness and industry/testingtimesissue27.ashx

    Quoting:

Most McPherson strut systems are not adjustable so another common modification is the fitting of alternative McPherson strut systems that are adjustable for ride height as can be seen in the installation shown below on an early model Commodore. This does not require a VASS approval certificate as the structural design remains unaltered.

The newsletter considers McPherson struts as a form of coilover.

Mine was complied for Australian roads with them fitted so. I would assume that to be the hardest to pass?

Compliance. What a joke. Anyways, that looks good in the tech bulletin. Again logic applied. Not convinced is the same for nsw but sounds like you're in the clear :)

Do regular workshops do the inspections in Vic? In NSW if you know the right mechanic you can get almost any mod passed roadworthy as long as your car is safe and not falling to bits

It's tightly controlled here. Only licensed testers can do it, photos must be taken of tested parts with copy shown in the frame of roadworthy certificate number and kept for 7 years. Penalties for fraud are large.
