Hey All,

found out yesterday that my car is a cold spec.

What should i be looking for?

Should i be concerned?

Thanks

Tristian

Do you mean what is the difference?

Should have a few switches under the mirror controls.

All i can remember is Defroster in the Front Windscreen, Mirror Desfrosters and maybe heated seats if they are leather.

I have also heard there could be a button in the cup holder bin.

Nah i know the legnum i am about to buy is a cold spec one. I just wanted to know - besides underbody rust what wlese should i be looking for?

check the radiator for leaks.. since its from a cold place.. they'll rarely check their radiator/cooling system..

but most of all look for rust.. specially on joints and welds..

The alternators in cold spec cars are rated at 20A higher than warm spec cars and they tend to die sooner.

^^ hmm due to heat given proximity to down pipes etc?

Apologies for the thread mine, but is related to a current line of research.

No, I believe it would because of the high moisture from snow and what not getting in there.

Makes perfect sense, cheers

And due to the engine running many more hours than the mileage would indicate. So perhaps not prematurely dying, but seeming to be sooner compared to the odometer.

im pretty sure mine is cold spec aswell as i have the big demisters in the front windscreen to melt the front wipers.... i do have a little rust in the underbody.... only surface rust, so a little rust treatment and some paint will sort it.

Cold specs are also more likely to suffer AYC pump failure due to severe corrosion.

im pretty sure cold spec vr4's also have full body under coating?

Can you get cold spec options without it being a cold spec? I have the heated front wscreen, but don't think I have any other cold spec options, and the underbody is clear of rust...
