I tried doing a search but could find exactly what i was after

there are only 2 types of galant/legnum? Type S and Type V

Type S comes in only Auto but has AYC

and the type V can come in Auto or Manual but doesnt have AYC

Is there any body styling changes between the two?

Also.. is it worth getting a Type S over a Auto Type V? Is the handling difference noticeable?

Lol.... Carsten removed the thread from the INDEX about 5 hours ago haha

Legnum

Type V - Only in Facelift, Hi-Vis dash after May 2000, crap looking wheels (standard) auto/manual option

Type S - Flared guards, AYC, Hi Vis dash, manual/auto options, full interior options, "better" looking wheels

Galant

Type V - Same as Legnum

Type S - Same as Legnum but auto only

VR-4 is the only model (and the top model) we are allowed to import here in Oz, NZ blokes have the full range available to them including all the base models :(

BTW - Anyone feel free to add to this, or verify what i've posted, this is just a start i'm sure!

(I'm looking at you Brad :ROFLMAO:)

thought type s only came in auto regardless of the shape?! leggy or galant?!? I'm getting more confused..

but my advice.. any Galant/Leggy with AYC.. auto or manual.. you'll thank us later.. :D

i'm with you christian... it confuses me

all i know is mines manual, has ayc and its a legnum :P

Sorry Chris, Legnums are available as Series 2 Type S with MT - I have one also.

There's a full breakdown in the FAQ and a lot of useful links in the Index thread. These are your friends, keep them close :)

Dawso, you're so close but not quite right! In facelifts, you could get type V's with recaro or leather interiors as well as sunroofs. They are rare though simply because Type V's were a cheaper option and typically don't come with add-on's like that. Also Legnum Type V's were only available in Auto, and Galant Type V's were manual only.

The VR-4 whizz kid comes through again, thanks mate

Dont forget that the Pre-Facelift and facelift have their differences. The Pre-face has the TCL and ASC (as options ?) and the auto pre-face were only 260hp not the 280hp like the manuals and all facelifts.
The preface interior is pretty average unless u got leather or recaro's.
Appart from that they are very simular. (besides the obvious front and rear bumpers)

All auto prefacelifts have tcl and asc :) It was an option on facelift auto's althought we've only seen that on one car so far

Which sucks! Get rid of it and sort the suspension out to get rid of understeer but all asc and tcl do is restricts the power and makes things boring.:D

Maybe if you're the Stig...

If you're an everyday joe average driver they could prevent you from having an accident. For fun they should be overridable, but surely having them by default is a good idea.

My wife's car has stability and traction control and as she drives the kids around every day I'm glad for it.

The traction control is switchable, the ASC is always on unless you pull the fuse out.

I found the traction control very annoying, especially when coming away from corners in the wet where the front inside wheel spins a bit. The other 3 wheels keep the car from understeering and there is just no need for the TCL at all. I always turned it off.

The stability control however was awesome, especially on gravel, you could slide all over the place and grab huge amounts of opposite lock and never have a problem!
