Dirt bikes!

Anyone here ride dirt/motocross?

Id never ridden a bike in my life and just picked up a 2000(late complience, so actually 2001) Hond XR250RT with 8500 kms on it.
never been registered, and I will be looking at getting it rego'd eventually and commuting it once, maybe twice a week for my 40km trip to work or Uni.


Unfortunately, it had pretty well bald tyres on it, so ive been learning to ride at my girlfriends place who has trails in her backyard that are majority soft sand and mud with a bit of rock and grass plain thrown in, so my learning experience was somewhat 'thrown in the deep end'
So I'm currently trying to find a good soft terrain tyre that won't get too chewed up on the Tarmac.
currently tossing up between the Dun D606 and Mich AC10, anyone else ride or have some tyre recommendations for me?

I raced motocross for 10 years, trying to get back into it!

As for tyres, AC10's would be the tyre of choice, not much grip but they'll last longer than the bike!

Haha yeah that's my problem,
alot of the 'sculpted tracks' we're riding are majority soft sand so I need a tyre that'll really grip in the sand but also do well on the rocky firetrail going down to the valley
i can put up with an uncomfortable commute but I certainly don't want to be replacing tyres every 500kms(which is apparently the life of nearly any tyre according to a couple of shops)

on the other hand I don't want to go for a dual sport tyre that will be as good as the current bald tyres in the sand!
