Does anyone else feel slightly strange about this?

Very dissapointing.

Every man and his dog with a new V8, Supercharger or turbo has factory Brembos now. I know they are safe but what's to stop car manufacturers making their own decent calipers. Takes away from the exclusivity. Time for the new GT-R to have factory Project Mu or Endless calipers I say!

I agree! ruins the exclusivity when the bogandore owners have them.

Especially since the HSV range have 6pots IIRC.

Ah well.

EDIT: that said they are fronts only.

IMO, they need to do something with this car. I work at an Bogandore dealer, and the state some of these cars come from factory is rather shotty. ATM we have issues with Black car's coming in, with not complete paint work. " Yes this your new 50k+ SS, and yes that is undercoat you see!! " those brembo brakes might be the only thing worth looking at!!! just my opinion on the car, as jaded as it is!

I have many stories of holden's in general that have came in. eh! it works me up.... Sorry lad's I'll stop bitching now..

I quite like them to be honest. I did prefer the old wagons due to their longer boot, but this newest update makes them pretty cool cars overall.

You live in NZ though Brad, if you lived over here on the mainland you would have a different opinion ;)

Yeah, they're just not cool cars at all. Actually, having driven a Hybrid Camry recently, I wonder why anyone buys basic Commodores or Falcons at all anymore.

For RWD?
Glad Toyota have a hybrid version of that Camry. Their fuel economy otherwise was truly shocking (had those models as a few company cars in Sydney) for a 2.4L FWD. It was always worse than the Commodore wagon we had with the Alloytec 3.6L, which always had a boot full of gear in it.

Come on, show me someone who drives around in a new basic Falcon or Commodore who needs RWD... The Hybrid Camry actually handles quite well, a lot better than the normal one for some reason.

Tim, half the P platers in my town have basic commodores and falcons and they need RWD. How else will they pull fully sick skids everywhere and land them selves in ditches?

It's the "halo" effect of any brand really.

The Hybrid Camry is quite a surprise. Seriously, those electric motors add some oomph to the torque side of things. Freakier still at near-silence as well.

I just checked the retail on those brembo calipers and they aren't bad $800ea new minus pads. Way better than $2500ea for mitsi new ones

...and even more if you own a Series 1, if you add the other bits required to get it to fit :)

That's very true. I stomped it to overtake at 80km/h and was doing 140km/h surprisingly quickly. I did about 200km in it as a driver and another 200km as a passenger and got out of it really impressed. I did a similar drive in a normal Camry a couple of months ago and absolutely hated every minute. Gutless, noisy, awful handling and cheap feeling interior.

I'd definitely consider a Hybrid Camry if I was looking for a full sized car and had new car money to spend. Although I'd fit coilovers and big VIP rims and ruin the consumption...

You could get the most disgustingly heavy VIP rims in the world and take its fuel consumption up to almost a normal car's! Do they have the brake recharge? If so, do you think having heavier wheels with more momentum once they're spinning would offset the extra energy it takes to get them going?
