Hi guys my name is Josh,
I have a very old and tired mazda astina and am looking for an upgrade and have been looking at Mitsubishi vr4 legnums and want to know as much about them before i eventually buy one so thats why im here. Its been 3 days since i took my first drive in a vr4. Black auto with a recaro interior,no mods. Very impressed with the performance of a stock car. So thats my story. I wouldnt call it love but its very close and any friends i pick up on the way is a bonus.

Hey guys thanx for the welcome got a question for ya is there much difference in fuel economy between your BG and your Legnum.
 
All depends on how you drive really, I had a liberty before and it was quite a jump but I have a heavy foot. Now I have an SP20 mazda butt I'll be back in a leggy soonish, once you own one you'll fall in love. I did :)
 
All depends on how you drive it, make it come on boost often and its very thirsty... Drive carefully and it uses as much fuel as my commy!!

The biggest difference is the price of the fuel - the BG took 91 octane, the leggie takes 98. Economy wise, the BG wasn't really that great for a NA 1.8L four but it would still do about 2L/100km less than my leggie, which is one of the more economical examples on the forum I believe.

The running costs are noticeably higher with the leggie, from fuel to servicing and parts. But I knew that before I bought it. That's what this forum is for, finding stuff out like that - and it does a great job. I wouldn't have considered buying a VR-4 without this forum.
 
There's some freak cars on ozvr4 that are using less than 10l/100km (Damn you Kitty! hehe) but it seems the norm is 12-14L. I'm commonly filling up after only achieving 330km to approx 46 litres. If you're seriously considering purchasing a VR4, be prepared to spend a few extra grand on breathing mods and a decent tune to return some reasonable economy. 206kw and 1500kg isn't exactly a recipe for success if you're looking for a miser ;)
 
and there is even a few of us using 15L/100km+ lol :P
There is plenty of reasons to buy a VR4, fuel economy is not one of them

Welcome dude. Have you actually bought a Legnum yet? If you like the Recaro interior, I have my rare Super for sale which has the same.
