Hey guys,

Long story short I found a split CV boot and I've decided to replace all 8 drive shaft boots but getting the genuine ones will be way to expensive. Basically I'm after some info/part numbers here as I've done a search and didn't come up with much. Can anyone post up some part numbers or cars that share the same boots as ours. Where to get them etc.

Cheers in advance guys.

Measure the larger and smaller diameter of the boot and a rough length between the 2 and head into SuperCheap or Repco. They generally stock generic ones in a pretty wide range of sizes. Can't imagine they'd be more than $10-15 each doing it that way.

Only thing to watch out for is the one that sits right next to the exhaust (front right inner) is a heat resistant one.

I can probably get any measurements that are needed on the weekend if nobody can help you any sooner, I have a spare set of shafts in storage.. I can get you front inner boot measurements right now if you still need them (have a replacement sitting on my desk about to be installed:) ) .. just let me know exactly what measurements you need and ill get them..

I do know there is a cheap (~$6) boot on ebay that is a very close match for our front inner (passenger side obviously as its not uber heat resistant). It matches large & small diameters, tripod joint bits (the three protrusions on the inside diameter of the big end to mate with the TJ housing) and is pretty much the same length maybe a mm or two off. BUT it has a slightly different "bellow" section, not hugely different but the bellows are a slightly smaller diameter than stock ones, not sure if that impacts anything.. I ended up getting a replacement from meek anyway so didn't end up using it.... if you're interested ill dig up a link to it..

If you have found any non oem replacements available then could you post them, I wouldn't mind knowing for future reference :)

I cant remember what boots I used when I did mine, but they mine are definitely generic non-OEM. Genuine were too expensive IMO for a piece of rubber. the inner drivers side joint is made from silicon... but meh, I replaced mine with a rubber one - 2 years still looks good.

I took the joints down to a CV specialist, they matched a boot up. He mentioned the joint looked like it was from an evo lancer or similar.

that matches what meek told me; that evo (1-3) and legnum were the same.. their item is "CV Boot Kit (Front Drive shaft) Inner - EVO1-3 - CV T5 (AU$20.00)", it appears to fit on correctly..

So I'm still trying to get some part numbers if anyone can help. I might have some front outers just have to make sure they are right then I'll post up the numbers. I'm still trying to get the rear outers.

The measurements I have are:

Front outer:

Hub size 86mm
Shaft size 25mm
Boot length 110mm

Rear outer:

Hub size 79mm
Shaft size 25mm
Boot length 100mm

I tried measuring with boots still fitted so if someone has measurements without boots fitted to the shafts please feel free to put them up here.

What happened with this? I found these sizes online as I am in search of a cheaper option to replace both front cv inner and outers. Have no idea if the right size as they seem to be different with what u have.

I ended up buying genuine boots because I couldn't find aftermarket ones the right size :(

Won't fit. The boots have steps to match the cv housing

Hey guys, reviving this thread because I'm looking to do the same and replace most of my CV Boots all at once.

Does anyone know if the boots are the same for front/rear CVs and for left/right?

I know the front RHS inner is different because of its proximity to the exhaust, but are the other three inner boots the same? Are all the outer boots the same?

Depends if you still have AYC or not. The magna/STR diffs use ball bearing joints om the inners and outers where the AYC uses tripod inners like the front inners.
