Engine cut under hard acceleration

Hey fellas,

Hope there is an easy answer to this. I drive my car very sadately so it hasnt botrhered me to much, but on the odd occassion I want to pass a car quickly, under full throttle at about 60km the engine cuts for a sec, throws me into the dashboard, then kicks off just fine again! It doesnt happen from standing start under full acceleration, just around the 60k mark and justr cuts out for a second. I am assuming the MAFC thinks the engine is running to lean and cuts power out then changes its mind! How do I get around this? Its really annoying!

Also by disconnecting the MAFC, other than monitering fuel/air ratio anything else it does? Do many people disconnect it? The car does have after market turbo hard pipes and a bigger intercooler. Would they confuse the MAFC? Sry for all the nub questions, tried searching couldnt find a thing!

Hi,

you're hitting boost cut, I assume you have some kind of boost controller? You need to lower the boost.

If it is really sharp and violent as you describe then yes it will be boost cut. If it is more subtle then it will be plugs/coil packs/leads

Definatlety sounds like a boost cut to me if it was like hitting a brick wall. do you have a boost gauge? if you don't, get one for the time being. i know it is quiet useless thing in most of times but the times like yours, it has a high chance of saving you bit of money from repairs.

Thanks for your replys guys, boost cut is what it sounds like, as it is quite abrupt. Thing is, I dont have a boost controller or a gauge. I thought the car was runing standard boost all this time :S I'll have to check the hoses, see if i can find any bleed off valves.

Yes, make sure the little hose hasn't popped off the small red nipple that spurs off the intake pipe.
