Engine light on and TCL light and the boost

i have got a 1997 Legnum VR-4

When i drive about 5 min , first the TCL light will on , then the engine will on.

i have go to pit stop in nz to check the ECU error code.

There is code 72 in engine and 77 in TCL.

Will this error cause the boost comes low?

i just can boost 5-7psi now.

5-7psi is stock for your car, a manual or a facelift will be up around 8-9psi.

As for the errors, it's hard to say, might be something like throttle position or cam angle sensor, probably easiest to take it into mitsi.

Boost leak maybe? I just had one with a hole in the intercooler that did the same thing with the lights. Haven't checked the codes on it yet though.

thx for reply me.

i have never change the turbo, its the factory one.
but the air filter changed,and the exhaust changed.
i have got a turbosmart type-1 bov .
i try to turn it to more soft, but the boost still 5-7psi
the staff of mag&turbo said that 5-7psi is the factory setting,and i thought that the factory wastegate is 7psi spring.

but someone said that legnum can boost more then 10psi in all factory setting. i have no idea of that ....

can someone told me is that 5-7psi is normal in the factory setting?

the pit stop staff told me code 77 in tcl is the vacuum solenoid fail.
but i think maybe the white one beside the vacuum solenoid...

what is the boost leak? will the intercooler leak will cause the boost comes low?

by the way, the white one means "white cylinder"
the vacuum Solenoid is beside the white cylinder , one the left side.
( i dont know the exactly name of that one)

it shows the white cylinder and the "vacuum solenoid"

i hadn't change that yet , it takes me 100NZD to change one ..
i am thinking what's problem is....

hit him up a pm or look for threads started by him..

if I'm not mistaken, it is the black canister which got hoses coming from the plenum/throttle body and another one leading to somewhere.. and a solenoid attached to it from the bottom.. see if its cracked or what-so-ever..

because i just buy the vr4 for a month ..
and i dont know where is the "plenum/throttle body" is ...

the staff of shop check the vacuum solenoid and found that is broken.
i hope that i can solve this problem and give other people help.

and how to see its cracked? i seems nice from outside...

finally i found that the Legnum from the factory runs at the 8psi
around 5-8psi where u r boost from the factory is fine ( not slam it hard ).
maybe i need a boost controller now....

That is the problem..or anything with that vaccum system...just need to check through them all for breaches in the integrity...

in my case there is the vacuum solinoid broken.

there are 2 sensor there.

tomorrow i need to check whick one is broken and change a new one.

but changed the exhaust...

louder and louder!

and the bov is louder...

dunno if it's wise to change the exhaust and BOV without getting that issue first fixed..

about the issue still waiting the part..

there is a aftermarket exhaust and BOV in my car...

i just take off some part inside the exhaust .

so now it will louder , can get more air

i am new to this site,
this also happen to my legnum for a few times last week, i guess maybe the same problem
anyohe here can help where to get those solenoid thingy?
but how come its related to the engine lights?

i know this is an old thread

so thats the vaccum cylinder playing up or something else like the solenoid?
