When I got my legnum, the foglight button was in the glovebox. Im pretty keen on getting this fixed up now.

Im wondering, is my button stuffed, or is the surrounding that the button plugs into stuffed?

Here is my button. On close inspection it looks perfectly fine. Maybe its missing a spring?

Here is the surrounding thing that it plugs into. On close inspection, it looks like the tiny little clip that holds the button is broken (circled in red, although the photo doesnt really show it). If this is broken, what part do I need to replace it - is this attched to any of the other controls at the back of the dash or is it a standalone piece of plastic for the foglight switch?

The switch fits in ok but doesnt really hold in place.

I dunno about your foglight button, but good luck removing the trim piece / vent surround from the dash... I tried to remove mine to paint it to match the centre console but could only get the passenger's side out, so I gave up. Something wasn't letting go behind the driver's side piece.

What is that blue LED on the little door below?

so its the piece behind the dash thats broken (the bit that the switch plugs into)?

And yeh the blue light is my alarm led. Seemed the best spot for it.

so I finally had a moment to install this (6 months after I bought it!). To install the button it looks like I need to remove the vent, so I can unscrew the foglight switch, and put the new one in.

So how the hell does the drivers side air-vent come out??!!

I have removed the lower piece of the dashboard (below the steering wheel), and have removed the power mirror switch. The bottom of the vent surround is loose, but just above the switches it is very firm and wont budge. I have tried sticking my hand up behind it, but cant find any clips to push out.

Any ideas?

open the coin pocket,

push out the cover type panel above it, (might have tcl switch there?)

then push out the mirror controll switch,

then you can get you fingers to touch the back of the spot switch,

push down on it from the back, use a bit of force, it should unclip
then pull it thru the mirror switch hole

I already have the entire lower piece off (the peice that holds the coin tray and the cover type panel).

The spot light switch is screwed in - there is one screw close to the electric window switch hole, and then another screw on the other side which seems impossible to remove without removing the entire air con vent.

So your definately saying the air con vent doesnt need to be removed to remove the foglight switch?

Cheers for the help.

thats weird, coz I did actually remove a screw from the switch - the screw was attaching the switch backing piece to the air con vent surround. I'll have another look at it tomorrow.

Also had trouble trying to unclip the wiring harness from the back of the switch. It was being very stubborn.

looking at the switch as well as from my old galant.. I'd say they're the same...

have a look below..

so your chances of getting a 2nd hand piece from the wreckers at a lower price is good..

the switch that you actually touch is probably the same, but the backing piece and mount behind it is probably different.

I have all the parts I need anyways.

Thats bizarre, your HJ galant has the same HU as my brothers HJ galant!
