Guys... well done a bit of searching.. but just trying to find out what kinda brakes they come with on the front and rear... being 2pot-4pot large single caliper??? talking more to do with the facelift model (2000)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

They come as standard with 2 pot front and 1 pot rear, fronts are 294mm and the rears are 284mm.

You can bolt evo brembo's directly onto facelift cars, front and rear. Naturally all upgrade kits for evo 5-9's will fit on as well.

Prefacelifts are more difficult, you need to change the hub carrier, abs sensors, most of the time it isn't worth it and most people go with uprated pads and discs.

just wanna add something..

for the rear brake rotors.. use the DBA429 not 419..

429 is 284mm overall diameter
419 is 300mm overall diameter
--
some might think.. can we use the 300mm rotors for the rear?

Brad & Gly can answer this..

Even if you could, why bother, the fronts do 90% of the work anyway. You really want to concentrate on going with the best pads and rotors you can find (evo 4 ones will do) or go straight to Brembo's

just gotten prices for rotors

RDA Slotted & Dimpled Rotors
Fronts $400 + GST
Rears $350 +GST
(apparently rears the last set they've got - does that mean they won't make them anymore?)

RDA Slotted
Fronts $280 + GST
Rears $240 + GST

posted above are retail prices and for a pair, I believe I can get it a little bit cheaper than that..

If your in perth RPW already stocks pads and rotors for the VR4's.
We also use the EBC Grren and Red Stuff brake pads with them - they work very nicely as a combination.

im using the ebc's on my brembos,
reds on the front, greens on the rear, work great,
and none of that usual brembo squeal either.

just had a reply from Richard (www.prosportauto.co.nz) and apparently they sell endless 4 pot kits for our cars..

"Endless only make a compact mini kit for that model, using standard size slotted rotors.
Kit price is $3760 plus GSt and freight costs"

abit dear but at least there's a set out there..

Cripes! That's gonna be over $4k all up!

Is that for all four corners or just the front?

cheers

I wouldn't pay that much, brembo's are cheaper! And at this stage you don't know for sure whether they are for facelift cars or prefacelifts?

I am sending the plow in for compliance in the next few days.
And thought it might be a good idea to get rid of the shudder cuased by warped front rotors. I will be buggered if I am going to let them tell me that the rotors need replacing and then they put on some standard ones and charge me $500 to do it.

So I ordered myself new rotors. I have no idea if these will fit, but I ordered them based on the information in this post, 294mm. So if they are wrong, then I will take it up with Snickells!

Anyway, here is a pic and a part number. I will put these on tomorrow and hope they fit. No one order any until I update the post! lol

Stay tuned!

Good luck Brad, I asked for the 5000 series, but they said that they do not make them in that size. So not floating hats for me!

OH well, let me know how you go.

the trouble with the drilled rotors is they dont last under heavy braking. Because the DBA's arent cast with the holes in them, they fracture around the holes. The rotors on high end Mercs etc are different, they are cast with the holes.....
