Twas cruising down the Barrier Hwy on Sunday and a truck was heading towards me flicked a stone and hit my windscreen :(

Mother Trucker!

Anyway now I have a crack about the size of a 10c (Australian) piece and I was wondering if any one has had experience with getting Windscreens repaired/filled?

Does any one know any good places in SA?

Obrien Windscreens - you will need to ask them to find it in one of their NZ stores. Check and see if your insurance covers windscreen replacement.

With repairs, they can't be done, by law, if the chip is in your field of vision. Most windscreen places will be able to advise you on who they use for repairs.

LOL! I called Obrien Windscreens and they quoted me:

$109.00 for a repair (It's on the passenger side) ... Out of interests sake I asked for a full replacement cost...

$379.00 which surprisingly isn't as bad as I thought and to support my initial LOL they have 50 in stock in Australia!

So that makes me think that another car out there has the same front window as the lady at Obriens thought it was weird that they would have so many...

That's not badly priced. Obrien's has always been good from my past experience. Had to replace a windscreen on the Supra before and once on the Sigma.
Wow 50 in stock for a Legnum
Probably the 7G galants have the same windscreens.

If it can be repaired it's not covered by Shannons if it needs replacing it's covered (Go figure)... So I need a Windscreen Obriens rep to say so.... Hmmmmmmm....

Knowing my luck I'd hit the bonnet then my wife and it'll land on my dog... Me and dodgy ways have never hit it off I'm afraid....

Just be careful if your car is a cold spec one... They have the heater under the windscreen wipers... To replace one its NZ $1500

I've had mine replaced. Naughtika is getting his done and I think that there has been at least one other member who's had theirs replaced also.
All I can say is "Bloody Trucks". Mine got broken in similar circumstances. I had it repaired but the crack continued to grow.

$379?!? where the heck did you get this price from?

O'Brien quoted me $480+ hhmm that's a huge mark up.. maybe its because I'm asian.. lol

Prices must be different from state to state because Mel was going to have to pay the difference between the cost of the repair and a new screen until I informed her that our insurance covers the replacement.
Quote was about the same as your Naughtika.

I got mine replaced for $250 although i think it was a cold spec one and now isint

What is this "cold spec" you guys speak of? Heaters on the wipers to get rid of the mist?
The cold spec cars come from Northern Japan. They have the wiper heater, heated side mirrors, better under seal and one or two things I cant remember.. :ROFLMAO:

Sorry this doesn't give many people the chance due to the late notice but I'm getting my front window swapped over tonight and if they can rip it out without too much damage does anyone need one?

There's a small crack in the lefthand (passenger) side that can be repaired but I i get a new one for free... Anyway my appointment is in 20mins and I leave in 5 so if anyone wants it sms me on 0402 444 899...

please explain how you know your car is "cold spec" or not

you'll know if you have the 'demister' strip along the bottom of the front windscreen..
