Hey guys, introducing myself, bought a legnum last november, in fact it was this one
http://ozvr4.com/forums/showthread.php?11676-Anyone-in-Brisbane-wanna-do-me-a-big-favour
the ad has been removed, but its a 99 white facelift manual, in pretty good nick with 100k on the clock and mostly stock. Its got cat back, panel filter, and tanabe coilovers.

Had the 100k service done at Carmen a few months back. cost 2700 all up, with a few extras. Car runs like a dream and im happy with it. Although my fuel consumption cant get under 13 L/100 km. I saw some guys getting 11's on the forum, I need to get it lower or might have to sell it. Going from s13 that would get as low as 7.5 L and our other car is a 2002 corolla that runs on fumes, it seems like owning a truck.

Cheaper, easier and definitely do BEFORE you even consider LPG...

Spark plugs (and gap them at 0.8mm if you are running higher than stock boost... which is about 8-9psi)
Spark plug leads
Oxygen sensor

And a lot more can be found with the search button!

yeh got iridium plugs put in at the service, not sure what gap they are at. yeh was thinking that the o2 sensor might have something to do with it. LPG? lol its not a taxi

Not sure how many kilometres you do but if it was say 10 litres/100kms instead of 13 you would on average save about $10-$15 per fill. Is it really that much to worry about? How many times do you fill per week?

You are aware that the car is a full-time 4WD twin-turbo 2.5 V6?

Big difference from a Corolla or the other car....

We don't get these cars for their fuel economy.

When I test drove mine last week I got onto a quiet strip of road and the dealer told me to give it a go, as soon as I put my foot down the petrol light came on. From then on I knew what I was into fuel wise with these cars. So as King_panther says you don't buy a 2.5 litre TT V6 for fuel efficiency.

Last time I checked I got 10.8. Had already done cat-back, fmic & piping, plugs & O2 sensor by that point. That was on stock rom, pre-tune too.

Your O2 sensor is probably fecked if you're doing a heap of idle and cruise and still using that much. That or vacuum leaks.

Hi Janne, you could benefit from from an ECU tune from Steve the tuning wizard, he is a regular visitor to QLD, I'm averaging about 10.6 to 11.5L/100km

Was the Silvia turbo? If so that's pretty solid economy.

But yeah, if everything on the Legnum is in good nick it shouldn't be too bad on fuel.

Rarely did either of my Auto Legnums get below 13l/100km in city driving. I think the best i have is 12.6. It does do below 10 on the freeway though. The manual one do get better economy also

Welcome. Is your manual or auto? The manuals tend to help economy a bit more.

Welcome to the forum Janne.

Some of that advice above is gold. Especially getting Steve to wave his wand over it, you certainly won't regret that. As fas as fuel consumption goes, I have never bothered with it, I stick it in, push the pedal and put more in when it runs out. The enjoyment of driving these VR4's far outways the costs involved. IMO anyway.

Edit: Nice clean ride you have there btw.

Cheers for the welcome guys. Yeh its a 5 speed, and I didnt buy it for an economical runnabout, i knew it would be kinda thirsty. But anything i can do to get it lower would be great. It's the wife's car so that economy figure is with her driving mostly, I wouldnt mind if it was me driving, cos i'm always on the loud pedal.
Yeh my silvia was turbo, but it weighed under a tonne, so thats why it was so good on fuel, plus at 100km/h it was only pulling like 2100rpm.

I've been reading the forums since November, so picked up some advice already, but I'm pretty keen on the ecu flash. how much would that set me back, drive in drive out ?
