Getting into competitive racing

For a long while I have wanted to get into racing. Many factors have stopped me, but I don't want to wait too much anymore.

Any help would be appreciated, and I have taken the first step and I am apart of a club, so a cams license will be next and help with that too would be great.

Strange place to ask for a guy driving a GTR on a Mitsubishi website for road cars that rarely see the track??

Plenty of info on SAU, what have the members of the car club you joined suggested?

I posted on here in hope that someone might be racing here with any pointers. You know where to start out and such.

I'm very rarely on SAU these days.

I would like to start of with something fairly cheap but rewarding.

I can advise on some cheap options up here in QLD (ie, Gemini and Excel series are a couple of examples), but not too sure what they have down in NSW and it all comes down to money in the end. Best bet is to contact Sydney Motorsport Park or Wakefield Park and ask them for a bit of local advise.

Cheapest stuff to get into would be motorkharna's and Kharnacross.

I often do events with the Mini car club out at Vineyard.

Kharnacross is done at the same place but has trees and is a lot faster.

Maybe the Excel series?

Or something like the 24 Hours of Le Mons (which is an American thing, but may have something similar locally and yes it is 'Le Mons', not 'Le Mans') or Rallycross (British, but may be something local as well).

There was a guy on the magna forums a little while back who was topping his class in dirt khanacross racing with a $200 manual magna he got from a write off auction, he put it all on youtube, was pretty sweet.

I have tee'd up a partner to by either a s-chassis or GTS-T for some circuit and drifting. Planning on doing this next year so thats something to look forward to. After all this time deciding what to do lol

Mate of mine is selling his GTS-T for $2k. I have my half of the cash, just waiting on him. As I was a mechanic, I was happy to do any maintenance on the car, and would slowly build it up with spare cash. Im looking at something where 6 or so guys can go out and have some cheap fun, and take part in some motorsport.

Bikes mate, bikes are the go!
Aprox 5k for respectable track bike (2005+) 600-1000cc
1k for leathers, boots, helmet, gloves.
The power of 9-10 sec quarters, scraping knee's, mega mega brakes (that never fade) and most tracks hold monthly ride days $135 and some even do bracket racing. Day race license $15
Your tyres last like 5+ days your brakes double that....
I am so so hooked...
