selling my VY SS atm and downgrading to something cheaper ($10K-$12K) needs to be a wagon. im looking for a 99'-00' audi a4 quattro wagon but they are pretty rare. i keep compairing it to what u could get legnum wise for the same money and there just so much more with the legnum. there seems to be HEAPS more legnums around now than there was 1-1.5 years ago last time i was looking. heaps for sale just in vic (and nice examples too) and the prices have come way down compaired to what people were asking back when they were not around much. (like 1.5-2 years ago). ive seen 5 facelift leggy models, mint, for under $13K on carsales in vic alone today!

god damn it, i think im considering a legnum again! LOL! i love audi's but... i think id miss the 250kw i currently have and going to a 132kw 1.8T A4 wagon. the leggy has 206kw+!

now that heaps of 98-00 leggys are around $10K-$12K... is there a better bang for your buck wagon around that it? i cant see it.

Not sure what you are getting at here Ryan, but yes, the Legnum's are probably one of the best bang for buck cars on the market :)

If you are trying to sneakily advertise your Commodore in this post, then please don't as it will be removed as per the rules.

Make a donation (In User CP) and just make a thread. It will be easier for everyone :)

Hope you find one soon, and get rid of that bloody Commodore lol

Yeah lol I feel the same, when I look at prices of Galants and Legnums now, they're so cheap to buy!

But still, I wouldn't be able to afford to run one properly, and also have that niggling mod bug nibbling at me!!!

So alas, I must wait longer before getting back in to one or something else with some form of forced induction under the hood!

nah sorry mate, was not my intention at all. was actually a joke as no one on here would buy a commy after a leggy.

no one on here would buy a commy after a leggy.

Someone might know someone who is a after a nice SS though :D (Yes, although a jap car lover I still beleive you have one of the best looking commodore's cruising the streets)

That's right! I remember "whiteleg".

Have you had the chance to drive a 1.8T A4? They're good to drive but you do have to keep them revving whereas we've got decent torque. Similar fuel usage are they?

I suppose the cost is coming down since a number are nearing the 100,000km mark like mine and the service may put them off.

If you can find one at that price AND have had the service done, you're laughin' (y)

What's happens at the leggys 100,000kms service?
Do you have to replace the car? Lol

Apparently every Audi service is an expensive service. Something else I wasn't thrilled about. The more I compare the legnum to an Audi b5 quattro wagon... The more the Audi doesn't seem to stack up against the leggy. I still love Audi's but!

You may have a new vr4 owner very soon.

i think you will find most imports are good value - compared to aussie delivered cars anyway

like my old car (Aristo) was worth 80-90k back in the day and you can pick them up for 8 grand now

but as far as wagons go the Legnums are pretty good.....i guess the competition would be something like a Caldina or Stagea

Yeah I was dead set on importing a legnum about 15 months ago as local supply was scarce and over priced. But ran into the double edged sword of banks not wanting to finance a car not in the country and the problem of not having a car while the import process took place. So got my vy ss instead. Now with a baby on the way I'm downsizing my loan/car and looking for a wagon I can put the family in + actually has some performance. Looking at an Audi b5 avant quattro 1.8t but quattro wagons are freaking impossible to get and demand a higher price. So... I'm back on the legnum bandwagon! The ss is going up on carsales in the next few days and once sold I'm after a facelift leggy in good nick in Vic asap. There's a few on carsales that fit the bill currently. Bit nervous about learning a new engine and car scene but I'm guessing you lot are the friendly type and will help me out increasing my leggy knowledge.

Pretty hard to beat the VR-4s on bang for buck, especially if you want something similar but European.

Even Jap competition (Stagea etc) is more expensive for equivalent year model.

Yes it was me who went to the Grange and I have no regrets. The Leggy was a fun car but more a toy than car. You just want to modify everything and spend money (or something breaks and you have to spend money). Anyway the Grange is an great car and its not a commodore.

Lol! I reckon I'd spend more money on a hsv! I want to get 20's, full exhaust, cam, supercharger... So just beacause you went from a leggy to a grange doesn't mean you won't spend so much! It's up to the individual, not the car.

And it's still a commodore (well statesman) at the end of the day. Bit like saying a fpv gt isn't a falcon underneath it all, or a f6 isn't just a tarted up xr6t. Put some jewelery on a pig and it's still a pig mate. Just costs more. That's coming from someone who loves hsv's too!

I will admit that as the progress that the hsvs are replacing g more and more parts from the commo, ie. The e series hsvs get basically stripped now and new everything. So hsv are 'trying' to get away from the commodore stigma. But as I said, they will always be based off commodores. And thus inheret the commodore build quality.

Hahaha, a thread fighting about Commodore's.... Its like 2 homeless guys fighting over a 5 cent piece :P

(Just joking guys lol)

I had a Commodore before the Legnum and it cost me about the same to mod and service etc so they were much the same in that aspect!

Its actually a caprice not a statesman

A caprice is an optioned up statesman with different badges/grill. Same shell, driveline, body panels etc.

Ok I better stop! I'm not trying to pick a fight! Sorry whiteleg!

we were in the same boat - looking for a nice wagon with some power. we looked at both stagea and caldina but they're both ugly IMO :) even thought about a rex but a bit too small for us.
ended up swapping our wh statesman for my 97 legnum and i couldn't be happier!
