Hello!

Another long time reader, first time posting person! I am looking at purchasing a Legnum and am looking for people's opinions regarding their reliability. I do lots of driving and my two old cars are nice, but over 30 years a peice, one being almost 40, and therefore not as comfortable as something modern.

I have owned skylines before and like their general reliability when not abused and serviced properly, however I need the practicality of a wagon but I dont like the Stagea's looks all that much...

Are the engines relatively reliable? DO they suffer from overheating issues? What about drive train as I am sure that anything I buy will most likely have had a hard life?

Cheers guys,

Thomas

I've had mine for a year and the engine is great, there are guys running 220kw+ at the wheels on standard engine and the engine is still strong. I don't think anyone has had overheating isues unless pipes get holes. The only think is the autos need to be serviced correctly (search for auto transmission thread) and the manuals are really strong. It almost a evo6 wagon, nearly same running gear. Best car i've ever had so by July i'll be owning 2

thanks mate! Nice to see another person with an old car :) I was hoping that I would get responses along these lines... I am placing my current two cars up for sale this weekend so hopefully will get one in the next month or so...

Any particular models with issues or are they all much of a muchness?

I own 2 now. Great cars IMO. Auto's are prone to failing and the AYC diff's can be a bit iffy but everything else just needs to be maintained to get the best out of them (Like any car)

As you have read through the forums, I guess you will have seen what the most common issues are. No blown engines at this stage so thats always a positive for reliability :)

Welcome to the club too!

Thanks! The problem with reading through any forum is all you see are posts about things when they go wrong! Not often have I seen a post that says "two years and still going" for no apparent reason :)

I will go for a manual anyway, then again, manuals probably have had a harder life.... Choices, choices...

Our 63 has been sold, saddest day for my wife. the car was fantastic, fully restored but ended up too small for a family of 4 (2 small kids) so we've got a 99 type S auto on its way from japan

I have a manual, have had it for nearly a year.. the only thing that went wrong with it was when i smashed it lol!

But yeah, it was running perfectly before then, and is running perfectly again now that it is repaired.. i have a front mount, boost controller, etc on it.. haven't had clutch or gearbox issues, and havent had any other issues..

YET, touch wood i don't get issues lol.
