Just signed up here, current project is a 96 MR2 with a 3.0L V6 and TRD supercharger, installing a megasquirt EMS

i just sold my Sierra and was looking to step into a nice VR4 Galant

Welcome to the site Daniel.

The MR2 is going to be hell, nice light frame, MR layout with a huge engine. There are going to be some very surprised looks going around QLD. Post up some pics if you can.

There is a nice pre face lift for sale in Queensland [thread=6804][FS] 1996 Galant VR4[/thread], PM Shamren about it because the thread is locked, but I understand its still for sale.

Hey dan and welcome. Definetly a good place to come to if your after a good condition VR4

You will have to post up some pics of the MR2 project. Sounds wicked!

Welcome to the club mate

yeah the mr2 has been finished for 2 years now but has been running stock ecu + piggyback computer... as you can imagine the tune is very conservative- i wish to change that with the megasquirt.

Thanks for the link

Wow, have always had a soft spot for that shape MR2. So what numbers is it running? Was it an easy fit or was the angle grinder out all the time?

easy fit, used MR2 gearbox- only hard part was the SC belt. 273hp atw with stock ecu and piggyback- i expect 300 with the megasquirt

Beautiful looking MR2!

What's the handling like with the heavier motor?

Welcome mate. A lot of useful info on here. Nice NT03's. Why the different offsets? fronts look +35, rears look +42

welcome mate,

TRD aurion motor in the mr2?

i want to put on into a starlet one day haha (non charged though)

thanks for the comments guys. its only the 3.0L aurion motors are much more expensive :( but they do fit.
I think fronts are 17x8 rear are 17x9. This motor is actually around the same weight as the 3sgte. 3sgte having a cast block and turbocharger, cast manifold etc- the 1mz v6 is fully alloy.

Needless to say the handling is great, car does need swaybars though- i wouldnt wan to ruin the comfort by installing coilovers.
