Hello everyone,

My name is Chris and recently my 2nd daughter arrived so I need to get out of a Lancer sedan and into a station wagon. Legnum seems like a nice car so that's what I'll be looking for.

Ive done a bit of research on them but there is some details I havent been able to find hard facts on. Some things Ive read say that the gearbox was upgraded with the 1998 facelift, cant anyone confirm this?
Anything else I need to watch out for?
 
Welcome along Chris, keep an eye out the classifieds section - plenty of good, well looked after cars coming along.

There's no gearbox upgrade that I know of. Most of the info you need is in the forums, take a look at the index thread, then try a search then ask away :)

Unless your referring to the power difference between the Pre-facelift Auto and Facelift Auto?

Both of those look nice. Unfortunately I still owe a couple grand on the lancer so at the moment Im mainly just looking at Legnums in dealerships that can offer trade in and finance. Although Im not in a rush or anything so if I can finish paying the lancer off and sell it, in a couple months Ill be looking private. If I had the money ready to go I would be very interested in yours Qball, need an auto so the missus can drive it aswell.

I might of just bought a Legnum :P
Was offered 13k trade in for my lancer on a white 99 facelift auto 60k kms (or so it says). Cloth interior, which was in great condition. Although not all was good, I could feel a little bit of shudder around 60kms when in 5th gear which after doing a little bit of research on Legnums I think might be cured by a flush of the gear oil and replaced with some good stuff, so I told him I want that done.
One other thing when I came back from test driving it, I left it in park and got out and it kept reving up to almost 2.5k rpm and dropping back down to about 1000rpm. So I asked him whats up with that and he said it must be close to running out of petrol, a look at the petrol gauge confirmed it was empty, it is normal for a car to act this way when almost out of petty?

So despite this I put a deposit down that is refundable if I decide to back out.

Apart from the things I mentioned it was a nice car to drive. It had some kind of coil over suspension but I wasnt able to get my head in close enough to see what brand, the guy warned me that its a bit stiff but I thought the ride was very comfortable. I didnt find the power overwhelming but its great how its just ready to go soon as you put your foot down you hear them little turbos doing their business. Anyway thats my rant, heres a pic

Doesn't really sound like out of petrol, I would think it could be a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor) but others here please chime in. An easy fix, but not sure of the price.

You should try to pull the diagnostic codes and it will tell you what's up. It's really simple to do, so have a search for the info here, you only need a paper clip to short pins 1 & 4 on the connector and the dash lights will flash the codes to you.

The idle does sound like a problem with the idle stepper motor, or possibly even the temp sensor. The car is supposed to idle high when the water temp is cold, the problem could possibly be that.
 
Ok well since it might be more then just short of fuel Ill make sure its not happening before I sign anything
 
 
Another CH lancer owner looking to sell up and get a Legnum! whats going on, we've all got the same idea lol
