Driving up a slope, gained boost in 2nd and the motor stalled.
Trying starting, ran for abit tried to take off, gained boost and stalled.
Checked all pipes for a leak/loose fitting.
Tried start ya bastard, ran for a second then died, so im sure its fuel related.
Reciently replaced fuel filter, i think the fuel pump has died, been running around on 12 psi boost.

*Points.
Bleed valve is pretty dodgy, so every now and then 3rd gear boost would spike to fuel cut, at one point the cut was so intense the engine light came on.

Unsure on the service details for the car as in if its had its fuel pump replaced.
135,xxxKM.

Thanks.

I would check the maf is plugged in, that the bov simply hasn't collapsed or anything like that, and recheck all of the piping.

You can fairly easily disconnect the fuel rail links and aim the lines into a bucket or something to see if fuel pisses out when you crank the engine over.

Brad have you got a photo or something with detail to the fuel rails?
All pipes are connected, MAF is certainly plugged in, unsure on the bov, pretty sure its fueling related.

Thanks brad

Really sounds like a boost leak somewhere. Does the car idle ok? Did the car blow black smoke as it was stalling?

No smoke, but it defiantly felt like it was starving of fuel.

But.... Just tried starting the car this morning, and its running perfectly fine right now...
Scared to take it outside and it dies again.

Have you used any fuel additives lately?

If you think it is fuel related then try doing as brad said.

Nah nothing added, of course 98. Infact it was a fresh tank that day. I ran the car till the tank would have been 5L short of dry, then filled it up with BP ultimate 98, and afew hours later is when the problem occured.
Last thursday we just replaced the fuel filter.

Also as the car is running right now, i took the risk of taking it out, went up the back roads, slowly, gained boost through most gears real slowly, no problems.
Got down to the corner of my road, took 1st gears revs harder and boost cut happened.
I think it could be the dodgy bleed valve, anyways cars up the back now.

stop destroying my vr4!!

if you're hitting boost/fuel cut then you've got your boost controller wound up too high (my guess is that it was about 13PSI or more).

Someone will correct me if I'm horribly wrong, but you might need to take the factory boost solenoid out of the loop. I think its a dual-stage thingo (unless I'm confusing this with my R33 - its been a while) that is adding 2PSI to the boost when you hit x-RPM (4.5K or 5K, can't remember). If you have your a/m boost controller/bleed valve set at 13 or more PSI, then above that x-rpm you're going to be 15 or more PSI and thats when you'll get face-palmed by the dashboard. Also, i think you need to loop the input and output of the factory solenoid with a bit of vac hose to prevent errors or something. I read that somewhere a while back. IMO, remove the boost controller/bleed valve for a bit and see if the issue keeps happening.

Also, your MSN tag said that you blew your first hose off on boost or something. Check for splits too.

Also, check that the airbox is actually closed. When I had that car I noticed that one of the bottom clips sometimes gave way and the box was open slightly, possibly letting in air AFTER the afm. Could be enough to stall, shouldn't be enough to prevent starting.

Also, bleed-valve = fail. Get an EBC or gated MBC. Bleeds are too erratic to be running that close to the cut-off mark. I used a turbotech; $20 from ebay. Worked a treat.

my 2c

Oh man ive got it set low, like 10. But 3rd gear it spikes. Ive been short shifting the gear to avoid it.
EBC is such a go.
Walbro 255 is ordered. Talked to 3 different shops, all pointing towards fuel related, and with the car starting this morning, pretty sure its on its last legs.
Checked all piping.

remove your BC.. try to return the car to its stock state.. except for the pump.. this way you can eliminate the possibilities that the aftermarket stuff are causing the issue..

also who replaced your fuel filter?

absolutley make sure the intercooler pipes are definetly on (Especially when they may 'look' to be on)

My concern is the the hard plastic pipe that joins straight onto the throttle body, and that does stall the car as it just simply 'shoots' off like mine does once in a while (even though it looks to be on)

And definetly definetly bring the boost to absolute minimum or better, take it out
