Help What Could Be The Problem

I was crusing alone doing about 55 km/h and all of a sudden all for wheels started to lock up I put it in nutral and clutch in and still was locking up. So must be internal, but when i tried to move it worked but was jamming and locking up. What could be the problem narrowed down?

Note will check the oil levels but im sure they ok i have no major leaks.

I was told it could be the centre diff? where is the located?

They are probably referring to the transfer case which sends drive to the rear diff. It is connected to the gearbox.

in the middle of the car underneath the firewall area at the back of the engine bay.

I'm confused by your description of 'locking up' - do you mean all the wheels are locked to turn at the same rate, regardless of what you're doing with the engine? Or the wheels feel like you've applied the brakes? If you take the car out of gear is the engine able to rev without affecting the wheels as normal, or does it still seem engaged?

If it feels like you have the brakes on, yes I'd agree with the transfer case (front diff) scenario, although it could also be an output shaft problem. If taking the car out of gear doesn't seem to work then you probably have a clutch problem.

Oh and as for finding the transfer case, look under the car at the rear drive shaft and follow it forward where it disappears into a cone-like box that also has the front RHS wheel drive shaft coming out of it further up - that's your transfer case.

Thanks everyone, the seal on the rear of the transfer had come off and all the oil in the transfer was gone, the teeth on the centre diff was in pieces alone with bearings.
