thanks guys, talk soon

Welcome to OzVR4 Fab. You'll find just about everything you'll need to know about importing or buying locally here, so have a good read through all the junk, and fire off questions if and when you have em.

Come down to a wash meet some time too, that way you can see some in the flesh!

Welcome to the club mate. You'll everything you need to know plus more here! :)

Thanks heaps guys. When is the wash meet and where ??? Nah just a gx mate. Pretty average. Looking forward to a new car. Especially if I end up with a legnum ;);)

Not sure on when out next meet is actually. Our VIC mods have been either busy or lazy recently... *hint* *hint*

Just keep an eye on the VIC section and you'll see em pop up every now and then.

Hmm... perhaps a cruise could be on the cards?

haha fair enough. Yerr a cruise would be sick with heaps of legnums. Might actually get to see one in real life. Are many people on this with vcc? Where about are you located mate? Got msn?

VCC? What's that? I'm in Eltham, but we have ppl all over Melbourne. And MSN? nope, not any more :P

victorian cruise club, you should join it, or do ozvr4 have there own big cruises, i actually like this website, people arnt so stuck up, and there arnt and ford or holden fans :):) always a bonus. wankas!!
oh ok, look like ozvr4 is the way ya do it then.

I went from a 4gen Lib to the Galant, very happy transition! :)

Welcome!

yerr i cant wait, im so glad i found this forum cos i dont know anything about these cars, what are quickerr, the galants or legnums?? and is it that much more to import yourself?? any risks?

The legnum just has a bigger boot than the Galant, everything else is the same.

As for importing vs local purchase, both have risks. I imported my Legnum and had to rebuilt the auto transmission as soon as it got here, and Stuart (a member on here) just bought a second hand one which had been here for a while already and his auto trans blew up too!

Most people though have no issues at all, so it really comes down to how much time you have before you nee the car and how much you want to spend.

Importing = cheaper prices vs longer wait
local purchase = quick deliver vs higher price

Welcome mate. I too came from a subaru back ground. Never looking back tho; legnum is a great car, functional and quick. Oh and the added bonus that mitsu part prices are WAY! cheaper then subaru.

Really. So legnums are way better than subys?? Wow. Crazy. I can't wait now. So importing is cheap. But is that including all costs. Like rwc. Rego n all that crap?? How long would it take to import? I think I'd rather do that. The only think is you can't actually see the car. That would be the only downside. It is a little risky though isn't it?

Welcome Fab, If you have a bit of time on your hands at the moment i would say to import one yourself.

Go through IRON CHEF or JSPEC, they can help you out.

G'day Fab. You'll also be blown away by how well the Legnum handles, you won't believe you are driving a wagon.

Are most legnum owners, ex Subaru drivers??

So you reccomend importing then? How muxh on average would a legnum be. Manual. Leather seats. Sunroof. Like all extras basically. Are they quick. I know they have 206 kw. They'd beat most cars cos of the traction right?

Fab.

To answer your earlier question, in theory, the Galants should be marginally quicker than the Legnum. They both make the same power but the Galant is slightly lighter. The acceleration difference will be half of SFA though.

On your second question, the price depends on the condition and what options you spec. If you are importing and you want "all the extras" and low k's, my guestimate is that $13-14k will get you into one, particularly given that the AUD is trading at 85 US cents. If you weren't after all the fruit, you could get away in a decent model for not much more than $10k.

On your third question, a manual Galant Legnum will do 0-100 in about 6 seconds flat and the quarter in the low 14's. Faster than most cars you will meet on the road but slower than Evos, turbo Foulcans, some V8 Commonwhores etc
