Hi Guys,
It seems that Jason Round from HPI magazine couldn't get enough of our lovely VR4s so he has written up an excellent article about our VR4s and what to spend money on.
Its not the best example of upgrading your car, but there are nice examples here.
Courtesy of HPI magazine issue 111.

Ill upload the pdfs as well so anyone can download for their archive

with out sounding too harsh, this is like 2 years old, and is watered down specific information that came from this site.

but good upload

Once again there's a speculated comment in there re the auto box... which gave 300ZX's a bad wrap for their auto boxes. These auto tranny's are imo bullet proof!!! Sure there are boxes that have shat themselves from leaking seals, not changing fluid often enough or overheating from not using a tranny cooler. But who here has blown one up based on brute power alone??

There has definitely been quite a few failures around like you said, I have done a lot of searching both here and on club VR-4 and also spoke to a few mechanics who work with them (mostly in the veradas) and the word is that yes they are indeed strong but only if taken care of, both from now on and by the previous owners.....

There are a couple of weak spots in the box.... But the weakspots certainly aren't strength related, just dodgy parts from factory which CAN be replaced easily.

You wouldn't believe it, I brought my copy into work today to do this exact same thing, thanks for uploading this Stephen.

I'm just wondering if this should go under [thread=4740]VR-4 reviews, road tests and literature[/thread]

Uuum, it wasnt Stephen that uploaded this but you're welcome either way, I know it is old but as I said, could go into your 'archives'.

Just took advantage of the A3 scanner at uni and had to scan heaps just go get the pages to fit on single A3 page.

I am not going ahead with all the mods listed but there are nice examples.

I wasnt sure if i should pop this into the Performance upgrades or General discussion. Fits both I guess.

I love seeing our cars pop up in magazines even though there are plenty out there that do not know anything about our cars.

I've had similar experience in that both the transmission workshops I've visited have told me that in fact the Verada's auto box is considered one of the better ones going around provided it's maintained. And anyone with an auto who isn't looking after it properly is asking for trouble, regardless of the build quality.
