I have been feeling increased vibrations along with some squeaking for the last few weeks in my legnum and it has gotten so bad i took my wheel off.

I found this...

and this...

I need to drive the car everyday and can spare a day to get it fixed but need to know if it is safe and for how long? I don't want to stuff up any other mounts etc.

The drive shaft boot has been like that for a few months i think. Anyone know how much they would cost to replace?

Generally rebuilt driveshafts are about $100, I don't know specifically about the VR-4s though sorry. You may need to leave yours at a driveshaft joint for them to recondition. As long as they have the parts they've done it while I waited before, only takes them a few mins as they churn re-co's out all day long. Personally I'd be getting it fixed ASAP... once I found out about it!

I found a not so badly shagged engine mount when I did my plugs. I have those prothane bushes on the way.

If you are being careful and not thrashing you can probably still drive it...

ok, I'm going to ask the question:

How the F did you get the camera into that position to take such a clear picture of the rear engine mount? As far as I'm aware you must have bent most of the rules of physics!

Haha, i used my phone camera so i guess it is quite small.

I got a quote for $25 for the kit and $100 to remove, fit and replace the boot.

The engine mount will be $150 or so dollars fitted as well. I am just going to replace it with a used one and order the urethane bushes soon.

I just this week bought a front driveshaft from my usual re-co place for a Subaru Liberty. Usually costs about $100 for a changeover, but this time they sold me a brand new one for the same price. Must be cheaper to bring them in from China than it is to do a re-co these days.

New boots are a bit of a waste of time and money as dirt and other crap could have gotten in already and will destroy the bearings. Best hunt around try to get a full re-co done.

Cheers guys...

I was always going to order the Urethane ones but wanted one in there until they arrived...

I have been driving it anyway and it feels that same so hasn't gotten any worse...

I ordered the Urethane ones on Monday so hope they will be here soon..

Incidentally, some mobile phone cameras take EXCELLENT close-up shots. I chose the Nokia 6500 for that very reason.

Have a look at my thread over in OCAU (Overclockers Australia) re: modifying a Corsair watercooling kit to fit a Socket 775 motherboard :)

Hope your kit arrives soon Scott so you can begin with the tinkering!

Haha nice work Gav!

I talk it down but i am the biggest phone nerd ever. It is a N82 with 5MP and proper Xenon flash. I have mucked around with the settings and can get some real bad boy shots with it.

Mounts have arrived and will be fitting them on Saturday. Will see how it goes and post results.
