Hi all, i'm looking at a fujitsubo cat back exhaust for my pre facelift legnum on the auction site, but i'm unsure whether it is for a legnum or galant manual or auto. the listing title is only EC5W exhaust. my question is are legnum and galant cat exhaust the same and does the transmission type matter aswell?

also whats the difference between EC5A and EC5W. sorry if these are stupid question i'm new to this.

cheers

The tranny does not matter but the Galants are a fraction shorter. As far as i am aware, it is a simple fix

EC5W is wagon, EC5A is sedan. Trans doesn't matter. I've read that the sedan cat back is shorter but as yet i haven't tried my sedan exhaust on my wagon

I'm pretty sure there is a difference between auto & manuals... I remember x17x couldn't run timmae2006 muffler for some reason.

There is only 1 part number for the EC5W chassis:

http://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/prods/detail/000000000000001136/00000000000000002566/00000314

So there is no auto/manual part numbers.

As for comparison, here is the EC5A part:
http://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/prods/detail/000000000000000926/00000000000000002232/00000306
Which also states it supports EC5W - so either or will be fine. If the tip sits 20mm shorter on the sedan version, who really cares?

Thats for the non turbo legnum, the correct part numbers are below:

facelift - http://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/prods/detail/000000000000000160/00000000000000002242/00000317
pre-facelift - http://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/prods/detail/000000000000000928/00000000000000002239/00000315

so I guess there is also a difference between FL and pre FL?

thanks for that vr4 play, from looking at the two articles i cant find any differences apart from part number. the lengths and diameters are the same on the pre f/l and F/l.
can anyone else find differences????

Yes there is a difference. There are different versions of the tip length for pre-facelift and facelift. Have a search on the forum, I posted about it a few months ago and included photos. Apart from the tip, the rest of the system is the same.

But get the wrong one and it will either sit too far under the bumper like mine, or stick out a couple of inches past. I couldn't find this documented anywhere, but the photos tell another story. If you look very closely at the facelift in the above product page, you can just kind of make out the extension between the tip and the muffler body.

ok i have worked out that the auction exhaust is to suit a F/L model as it had the part number for the muffler which matches the fuji website.
so does that mean if i get this exhaust is will sit out pass the rear bar??

Yes, if it's the facelift model it will stick out a bit if you put it on a pre-facelift.

i did some searching of lengths, and had no luck. Are you able to tell me how much longer the facelift exhaust tip will be.

If there is a straight section between the muffler body and where the tip begins to flare, then the length of the straight section is the distance it will poke out past a pre-facelift bumper. It may vary depending on whether it came from the factory like that or if someone has customised it themselves.

If there is no straight section, then it will sit properly with the pre-facelift bumper.
