How did you go with this? i urgently need to get my hands on the following:
both front curved control arms (the ones at the bottom rear)
"Tie Rod Ends" and "Rack Ends" (i dont know what these even are.. correct me if i made a typo..)
Are you sure of this price? ($109) when i looked at the US sites the postage alone was over 100 dollars..
is there a equivalent locally (Aus) sold car that has the same tie rods?
i have the mitsu part number, but this doesnt help when shopping locally for a non original replacement. i was quoted 140 for a original tie rod (inner)
price i paid was $109.. no bull.. but that was a month ago when the exchange rates between US $ and AUS $ was almost the same.. now if you look at the thi link it shows that the total cost is $113.xx
if you buy the tie rod end (ball joint) it'll cost you around $30 each.. and you'll need 2 and the tie rod is approx $50 each from autobarn/repco/supercheap.. but i'm not too sure.. also you'll need to replace the steering rack boot, which will cost you $20 each as well..
go figure if what's cheaper... also the swaybar link ended up as a bonus..
i would suggest to message that seller to see if he can sell it for the same price as i've had.. or maybe GB..
What was yours doing before you had the ends fitted Josh? My steering has a little play and also have a little "clunk" if i turn into a driveway or something.
Yep exactly same as mine, clunk at carpark speeds when turning over bumps etc. it was the inner tie rod on the drivers side. jack up the car and it was obviously loose. i got the above pictured kit from US about $130 delivered, fits good, and fixed the problem. (you must get an alignment to fix the toe afterwards. )
HA!! I have the clunk at car park speeds and wheel aligner couldnt tell me what it was. I asked him to inspect all suspension and he told me "it looks fine, probably your steering rack" which I found hard to believe.
Anyone know how hard is it to fit in the garage on axle stands? (i.e. no hoist?)
Do Mitsubishi usually stock the inner tierod end? I'm currently up at the folks place in Townsville and would like to replace my LH one before I do the 1400 km drive back to Brisbane in 3 days. The tire shop that balanced the wheels before I left said it had some play, but would be ok. Had the car up on stands fitting the FMIC today and noticed it's got quite a bit of play...
Murph, dont bother with Mitsubishi.. typical repco, Burson or autobarn parts shop should have them install.. and if you were to change them.. change both sides.. so you only pay for wheel alignment once..
they are pretty quick on responses to this address and should be able to confirm if they are a direct fit, have you checked ClubVR4 on this I remember there is a thread about these and best suspension
