AS I understand it, the factory rear jack point has been known to collapse, and I've heard others say they just jack the back of the car up using the diff as a jacking point...

Is this safe? I'd be too scared of damaging the diff!

Reversing onto ramps is the easiest way, but other than that I usually jack up each side a little bit at a time on the sill jack points and extend the stands until I get the required height.

There is a solid round section just near the sway bar mount toward the rear of the car that i use. There is one each side. It is part of the rear sub-frame. Just jack up there and put a car stand under the factory jacking point on the sil.

I dont have a picture i am sorry and my description is vague. I personally wouldn't jack from the Diff, Just in case it cracks the casing.

my rear jacking point is still ok.. when I used one of those small jacks it almost got squashed.. but since I have a bigger one.. I now use that all the time and it works well for me :)

Every Silvia I've ever seen has been jacked up by the diff and I've never seen a single problem. Unless Mitsubishi uses glass for the casings you'll be fine. Surprised it's even a topic of discussion.

My rear jack point is caved in lol.... (Was like that when I got it)

I wouldn't jack on an AYC diff either. Maybe I just live life in fear.....

Always use the diff as a jacking point. I thought this was common knowledge.

I also think the rear diff should be fine. I don't think a jack properly positioned will crack the casing.

Usually I jack the front up and then one side at the rear and the whole back comes up lol. Maybe this is a galant-only party trick.

Also lol, another Mitsubishi v Nissan "debate" haha. Every s/r/a chassis I hav seen is jacked up by the diff
