Hey guys,

Just wanted to drop by and say hi. I'm a new owner of a 96 Leggy VR4. I was alway a mitsu guy, but jumped boat to Nissan for the last couple of years. I'm looking to make a comeback into the Mitsu scene :)

Here are a couple of pics that my guy had sent me from Japan.

Welcome bro, I think you'll be driving a very unique car over in NY.

Looks like your GTR was far from standard hey?

Great to see you made the shift to the VR4. Are you planning to modify the Legnum much or looking to keep it standard?

Welcome to the club.

A VR-4 in New York? Wow, I'd say it's probably the only one there.
Is it road registered? Or will you need to do a RHD to LHD conversion first?

The VR4 will be the only one in NY and will be road registered keeping it a RHD.

I've already have tons of mods running through my head for her. I'll be doing the basic mods first, intake, exhaust, intercooler, standalone ECU, fuel system and some RPW cams. Next round of mods will be turbos, custom manifold, have the trans and transfer case rebuilt and strengthen.

Yeap, the GTR has all basic bolt on mods, I have a RB30 at the shop being built and it's the first RB30 in a GTR in the states ;). She put down 599 whp at 20psi with a set of HKS2530s with race gas (110). After installing a larger set of turbos we pull 550whp at 19psi with pump gas (93) with minimal tuning.

That's awesome... I'd love to have the only VR-4 in town hahaha
Well, maybe I wouldn't... what would we do for wash meets?

in New York? Haha, that will upset a lot of Americans, and I'm guessing the guys on the Galant Center will be very jealous.

^^ha ha, very true, those dudes have to work very hard with their NA engines power wise to even get close to what you've got standard.

You could throw in those HKS 2530 turbos in the Legnum, they'd be matched quite well I'd imagine.

LOL, I wish I had pictures of my old Galant GTZ, we had lots of compliments on the car and I started modding it before it became popular. It was dover white, enkei shoguns, apexi intake, apexi dunk muffler with custom piping. She was awesome.

As far as the turbos, I'm going with the 2530 equivilent (garrett GT28RS). Based on my initial research, the pinouts of the VR4's and the GTO's are the same on the ECU so I will be installing a AEM EMS with a 5bar map, so I might buy it and give it a go.

I know this may be technical, but I'll just ask here quickly, 6 years ago when I starting looking into the VR4's I was told the 5 speed trans are the same of a EVO can someone confirm this? Reason being is I would like to have it rebuilt and would make it so much easier if I need the trans was the same as another counter part.

Thansk!

The gearboxes are largely the same. The gearsets are compatible but the VR-4's have different ratios.

Stock VR-4 ratios are 3.333, 2.105, 1.407, 1.031, 0.761 with a 4.111 final drive.
