Hi all!

I joined Ozvr4 a few months ago to read about vr4's, and I ended up importing a galant off the Chef. It's a manual silver 99 vr4 type v. Currently the car's sitting in compliance so i'll be seeing the car in the flesh for the first time tomorrow.

Basically I didn't feel right about making any posts until I had the car, and now that it's almost here, I just wanted to say hi, and thanks to everybody who's posted on this forum because I got a lot of info from here, and hopefully in future once I know the car better I'll be able to contribute meaningfully to the forums as well! (y)

Cheers,

Jack

Welcome Jack, you'll have a ball driving around in your car this summer. Be sure to come to a wash meet sometime!

Thanks a lot guys, much appreciated. Yeah I'll definitely try to join up at the next outing.

I would love to drive it in the summer, and I'm hoping I'll be able to get a few days of driving with it before my 4 week trip to HK - I leave in about 2 weeks and it'd suck if compliance takes longer than that!

I've only got photos of the car that I got from Kristian so I'll chuck some of them in - I haven't seen the car yet in the flesh. It's got a boost gauge in the interior and I'm hoping the wharfies haven't taken it!

First thing I'm gonna do is get rid of the pod, and then get it lowered... I can definitely see this car draining my savings.

17" - I would love to have 18" but I'm happy to have these while I change other stuff i.e. coilovers, cooler etc.

Clean looking example.

Be mindful of the gear knob though. I'd be surprised if it's still there by the time you get your hands on the car!

Also, is that a tape deck in the centre console?!

The car overall is pretty clean but it's got a small crack on the left side of the front bar and some touch-ups under the door handles - like the previous owner had long, indestructible nails and scraped under each door handle or something!

And yeah, I forgot to mention that I expect the gear knob to be gone as well. I've been looking online for boost gauges and gear knobs, they're not as cheap as I thought they'd be.

I was pretty stoked to find my car has a tape deck, because I use a music adapter, one of those tapes with the line-in jack so I can listen to my mp3 player.

Far out I've only been waiting since mid-October and I'm dying to drive, I feel sorry for the people who've waited 6 months!

The head unit is the stock mitsi unit that was standard. I'm unsure if the cd changer is a mitsi item or not (it isn't stock)

Oh ok cheers for that.

I just went to the workshop to have a look at the car today... IT"S FREAKIN AWESOME!!!

Looks way better in the flesh than in the pics, I can't wait to drive!!!

oh yeh, and they took the gear knob :(

Welcome to OZVR4 Jack... Silver Galants definitely seem to be a Victorian thing :)

Congrats Jack, good to see some Galant drivers in Melbourne,
My one landed in Melbourne today, but it will take more than a week for me to see it at the workshop and get to drive it.
We should have a cruise in summer, so we can get to know all the other VR4 pilots.
If you would like to meet and discuss further upgrade options, my number is:

Lol, for some reason that seems to be the case,
I searched for a Black manual Type s for nearly a year as I was very picky with my findings.
Finally I settled for a lightly modified very low kilometres Silver sedan.
It looks great though.

Cheers guys!

Yeah go silver galants! I reckon they look better in the flesh than in pictures.

Bilal: I'd love to cruise in the summer but at the moment the car's not registered because I need a RWC and workshops are closed until early January, but I'm heading to Hong Kong and Macau for a month on Monday! ARGH!!! It's so frustrating having the car at my home and only being able to drive it around the block.

Enjoy the car when you get it mate, it's got a good kick that'll definitely make you grin. And the wait for compliance is agony haha.
