Hey guys, i'm very very new member to this site. I'm another ex Nismo man in search of a Legnum. I've just sold my 200 and have been on the look out for a Legnum. I'm not a fan of the volvo look Stagea, even with the appealing RB + AWD option, so I’ve ventured over to Mitsu land!!

I've come across a nice (I think) looking legnum in Victoria. I don't know many people in VIC nor do I know much about Legnums, therefore can anyone recommend a person (qualified mechanic preferred with experience and knowledge of Legnums) in Victoria (approx 1 hour west of the city) that can do the inspection for me. I just don’t want to risk of buying a lemon (no offence to the owner). Obviously person will be paid!! I just want a non bias opinion on the car I am interested in.

I know you can organise mobile pre purchase inspections but I am just worried that they won’t have much knowledge on imported cars and won’t know what to look out for. However, if anyone can recommend a decent mobile pre purchase service with experiance on Legnums, please give me some contact details.

Or if anyone know’s of the vehicle I am talking about, please PM me with goss!!

I'm in the west although not an hour out but closer than virtually anyone else on here. If you want I may be able to take a look at it. Do you have a link or details as to where it is. Unfortunately that far out of Melbourne is a bit bare of workshops so you are plain out of luck unless the current owner will take it over east to a workshop for you

Ohh shite, sorry lads but just checked out the location on google maps and it's actually 1 hour EAST of melbourne!! I haven't rang the owner yet as it is quite late and it'll be a bit rude to buzz him at this time of the night! So I hope it's still available. But I just want to be proactive and have a person ready to assist me with the inspection.

This is the link. Tell me what you think, I think it's fairly cheap, but not sure what to look out for with a car of that age/milage. Do you guys know this car??

It is a type V so it has the boring dash an no AYC. Other than that, it is a Black facelift, so you can't go too far wrong.

Thanks guys. I did read the info for noobs about pre and post facelift, type s/v and dash etc. Does any one have pics of the difference between the boring dash and preferred dash?

Kenny,

that car has been on carsales at that price for ~ 2 months now. I would have it THOROUGHLY inspected before purchase as if it were as good as it seems it would have sold by now. He even dropped the price to $11k "for one weekend only" and it didnt sell, so if it turns out ok - negotiate hard ;)

You can bring it to us for an inspection, will cost $70 an hour, and it will take an hour to check everything properly.

We're located at:
Peter Ham Motors
56A Mologa Rd, Heidelberg West.
PH: 9458 3926

Yeah I did notice this car for sale while I was waiting for my 200 to sell. So it has been for sale for a while, and as you said Lee, if this car is as good as it sounds someone should've snapped it up by now. But then again, maybe the seller’s market isn't great at the moment and he is just having bad luck trying to sell it.

Steve- thanks for the recommendation mate, I still need to chat to the owner and see what I can arrange. I live in SA so it’s going to make it difficult to get the car to your workshop, unless the owner is flexible with time and is doing what he can to sell.

If you want Kenny, I also have my car for sale at the moment. It was originally listed at $16000 in a fully modified state but is now being returned to stock. After I've taken all the parts off it will be $12500 with RWC and 10 months reg (not really a factor for you though). It will still have some goodies on it like 17" rays versus wheels, bilstein suspension, rda slotted front rotors, green stuff brake pads, carbon cloth covered dash, bonnet struts, ralliart air filter, polyurethane bushes, autometer boost gauge. See this thread http://ozvr4.com/forums/showthread.php?9111-FS-98-FL-Pearl-White-Legnum to give you an idea of what it is like. More than happy to take it somewhere closish for an inspection as well. Let me know

LOL! that was the car i almost imported back in 2008 through iron chef...it had some decent paint scuffs and body marks. I only knocked it back coz it was a type v lol.

Hmm... I'm happy to go out and check out a car, but without a hoist it's only going to be a quick once over.

PM me if your keen.
