I was trying to register a new FL key with my PFL.
I have changed the keyless entry receiver to a FL one so I can have the auto windows down option.
Using the guide on here I can get the dash lights to flash (no fault codes) but I can't get it into program mode.
I have not cut the new key yet so I was using a blank key to turn the ignition.
I didn't think that should be a problem.
Any suggestions.

I've been trying about half an hour each day until my patients wear thin:mad:.
Is it all just about the timing or is there something else that could be causing me not to be able to get it into program mode?
How long did it take you?

Yeah I thought it can't be that hard,
Timing I think is not the problem.
Shouldn't any key throw it into program mode.
My door lock and window lock buttons on my door trim don't work?
Do you think may affect it?
I'll pull the door trim tomorrow and have a look.

Yeah you have to press the key button three times once the doors automatically lock to finish the programing. So they'd probably need to be working, check your fuses first.

I checked the fuses, all good.
All window switches work with full auto and the window lock button work's.
But the door lock/unlock button does not.
I pulled it all apart to check the contacts but they are fine.
I guess now I will have to work out which colour wire goes to the lock switch and see if i have a problem in the wireing.

Could be the wiring or switch or an issue with the driver's central lock motor. Does the central locking work on all doors and tail gate when u turn the key in the driver's door lock?

Only driver's door unlocks with key, but if driver's door is open and I flick the lock next to the handle then all door's will unlock.

Sounds like the driver's lock motor or associated wiring. I had a passenger side one fail to moisture even though they're sealed unit. The lock motor and latch are one unit and would be difficult to service/repair , mite be worth finding a second hand unit and trying it

I removed my driver's door trim and found a plug from the door lock leading to a circular plastic fitting not attached to anything.
After unplugging this I now can lock/unlock all doors from the button on on the door trim but still no luck getting the car into program mode.
Would a Mitsubishi dealer or auto locksmith be able to program a key using plugin software?

They maybe able to with evoscan but I'm not sure, being an import may also be an issue

Could it be the blank key I've been using?
Maybe I should get my genuine Mitsubishi one cut and try that.

Yes I have all that.
But I have been trying to get it into program mode just using a cheap random cut key.
I have a new FL key that I haven't cut yet.
Is there something in that key that will make it work? Should I get I cut tomorrow and try?

Yeah I checked this today thinking it could be that but still no luck.
Maybe I'll go speak to some locksmiths tomorrow because it's starting to do my head in.
What I thought would be a easy fix has started to really be a pain in the A.
Thanks for all your help and when I sort it out I'll post to let you know.
Cheers.

I took the car to my local performance shop who tried two different plugins and had no luck at all.
They said they couldn't even access the ECU saying it may be locked.
