Hi all,

In the never ending quest for power, I've managed to max out my poor little factory injectors. Is there / has anyone found a reasonably priced replacement around the 550cc size? Obviously I could walk into any Jap Import parts shop & spend a $1000 matching up a set of HKS or similar units, but Im just curious to see if there is a cheaper solution, before I have to start coming up with bullsh*t excuses to tell the misses why I needed to spend so much coin :ROFLMAO:

Have u tried the search button, theres a bit of info in here on injectors hey

apparently something from like a dodge neon srt work or something, only thing is, you hav to buy 8, not 6 (as its a 4 banger)

i hav also heard 1JZ injectors work

these are only speculation, but it give you somewhere to start.

also, evo injectors with a resistor and maybe something else, pm donkay about that ;)

Our injectors are currently 390cc low resistance 4 pattern spray if i remember... unless youre upgrading the turbo's theres no reqiurement... at all

I worked it out a while ago mathematically that you could pull close to 290hp atw, but richer is better

Dont compare our perfomance against 4cylinder, as lesser the cylinders, more larger cc is needed

Im currently using evo 6 560 cc high impedance injectors, previously with ceramic 10ohm/10watt reistors, now with R33 resistor packs but this requires full on wiring harness slashing

Ontop of that, why upgrade injectors just themselves? So.. fuel pump, fuel rail adapter, fuel pressure regulator should be on top of the list

Also, upgrading any larger injectors means u have to space the rails higher.. dodgey ones dont hokd the rails properly, mine are custom

You can hone out your original injectors.

Did this to mine now they flow 550cc Cost me $65 an injector.

Cheers for the info! Where did you get that done Jet?

Im currently running stock turbos that have been high flowed with aftermarket wastegates, Walbro 255l/hr fuel pump, Sard FPR & Bosche HEC 716 coil packs, all managed by a Haltech Platinum Sport 1000. At 18 pounds it pull just shy of 240kws at the front wheels (the motor is actually in an 2wd FTO not a Leggy) but at full boost when the power comes on, we just can't get enough fuel in, they're at 100% duty & she pings.

If I've gotta do rails as well, so be it.

Mine got done at Creatd Motorsport here in VIC. Either performance workshops or people who specialise in injector rebuilding can do this.

If you want better value put up a wtb thread on the supra forums, always plenty of people upgrading.

From memory the R32 gt-t sards fit also. Check the kkr 280 thread. However if honing out for $65/injector works, sounds like a lot less hassle.

And getting a set of stock ones rebored would also mean you would have flow tests from them so you know they are all within a very small percentage of each other.

Ok ta. Now does anyone know the lag time of the factory units?

So I went & found a number of places to get these things honed out. Prices ranging from $80 to $110 a pop with a general attitude of "you are better off buying new units rather than drilling out what could be a clapped out set of injectors"

So after a number of conversations with various mechanics & tuners, the guys @ Meek ended up pointing me in the direction of the Fuel Injector Clinic or FIC: http://www.fuelinjectorclinic.com/index.html

The closest I could find on their website were the top set on this page:
http://www.fuelinjectorclinic.com/injectors/3000gt-vr4.html

After a bit of email tennis & some dimensions & piccies, they have sized up appropriate units. They are not actually listed on the site, but the part number is IS186-0525H and they are the same price as the above set in the link. With postage it all came to approx $500 Aus or $83 per unit. Thats not too bad I thought...

They come with flow tests & all relevant specs including lag times etc that can all be imported into my Haltech for fine tuning.

Yep, but whilst it was the Meek boys that pointed me there, it was FIC that sized up the injectors for me.

Very helpful chap.

Sounds like they did do the right thing though, which is what's important.

Glad to hear you're having some joy, Ben. I'm a big fan of the work you've put into that engine.

Thanks mate :)

Hasn't all been smooth sailing though, I tell you, I've broken a bunch of things recently... most of which are all 15 year old clapped out FTO factory items that have had to put up with double the horsepower.

To date, this is the 'busted' tally:
Sheared driveshaft
Blown steering rack
Seized a front wheel bearing
Blown rear turbo seals
Blown rear gearbox rear main seal
Snapped front swaybar
Various boost leaks (some easier to find than others!)

And whilst these injectors are in transit, I've got the motor out on my bench, again, whilst I repair a burnt out rear turbo gasket, an all but collapsed clutch release bearing, replace all 24 lifters (hence why I was a Meek) and while Im doing the tappets, replacing all the valve seals (as she's been blowing a bunch of smoke.)

Mind you, I've got the motor in & out down to a fine art. Can do it in under 4 hours now

Oh & FYI, just got the invoice from FIC.

These injectors are actually to suit a Nissan 350Z (Nissan 350Z w/VQ35DE engine)

:)

Oh, the MEEK boys just 'love' doing the valve stem seals on our engines, lol. They did mine & were swearing black & blue by the end of the 3rd day of having my car! (Amongst other things getting done)

They did say they weren't going to do it again on a 6A13TT. You must have sweet-talked them.

They aint doing all this work, I am. I just go down there to pickup parts & chew the fat.

Plus its a whole lot easier to do with the motor out :)

Actually just rejigged the man cave last week. Now TV/Cricket enabled (y)
