Leaking oil. does this look abnormal

hi guys need a bit of help. car seems to be leaking a little bit of red colored fluid. I suspect transmission fluid anyway I was under the car and had the car running and could feel a small amount of air blowing out. I took a picture and what I want to know is does this look normal or abnormal. the hole to the left??

It looks like it's been cut into our someone used a grinder on it what is the hike in? Is that the transmission bolting to the block in that photo?
