in my old 95 holden if the headlights were on when you turned your car off, as soon as you open the driver door they would turn off.
my legnum doesnt do this, is there some sort of switch or something to activate it or does i not come with this feature at all?

Jaycar sell a kit but i am not sure how well it will work with our cars.

Trying to make one yourself would require a massive effort, i have looked into it a few times..

too hard, im used to not having to so its hard to get into a routine of remembering

Too hard? Do you have a dementia or somethin? I think that just plain lazy I say. So how do you turn your lights on then if you don't flick your stalk?

Spewing!..so you telling me my legnum doesn't have automatic headlight off function?...Thats it I'm gonna sell my legnum now..seriously dissappointed:laugh:

why is it that half you guys are idiots, i got out of the holden vs ford game cos i was sick of people saying shit and giving people a hard time just because the other person disliked who your car was made of.
you give each other shit, does it make you feel tough?
if you dont have anything helpful to say then i dont want to hear your shit

thanks scott derek and macca for your input, this ^ is not directed at you

oh ps derek i saw you the other day in ur car coming down railway pde turning left on to seaford road nice car!

Mine came with an Japanese aftermarket one already installed :D

Ah, you have the kit that turns the lights on automatically when it gets dark don't you.

Don't worry. They eventually turn off by themselves.. when the battery goes flat.

I'm in the same boat Scottie, researched it and decided it was just easier to turn them off by hand rather than doing a custom job.

If I had more time i'd do a custom one, but I lack both that and motivation.

It makes that annoying ass sound if I leave my lights on anyways so I never forget to turn them off....

lol

i guess after a week or two i will start remembering....well i will have to lol, it sucks when you go out to your new beast you bought the day before and it doesnt start because you left the headlights on
thanks!

There should be a beeper to remind you that they are on. I guess the only time it is of no benefit is when using a turbo timer (which are pretty much redundant on our cars).

Answer to both potential questions...

1. A Door/Key/Light Buzzer will not sound when exiting the car with the engine running (Turbo Timer)
2. Our turbos are not BB and are both Air and Water Cooled therefore require little cooling once the car is parked. If you have freshly tracked it i would prob let it run for a few seconds but that is all.

EDIT: Turbo timers also serve for preserving the condition of the engine oil but with regular oil changes (Usally why turbo cars specify 5000km oil changes) it also makes them less beneficial.

beware that its the same beeper that tells you when the door is open with the key in the ignition (if you remove it so you can play music with the door open)

there is a switch on the ignition barrel that you can remove and will allow you to have your door open but will still beep at you if your lights are on, one of the first mods I did :)

Macca, does removing that switch also stop the interior lights from fading on when you remove the key?

Hahaha, I didn't notice it didn't do that anymore :) probably because I open the door shortly after taking the key out of the ignition. I may have to look into that mod a little more, there has to be a wire for the lights and a wire for the beeper, just need to find where they join. Ill get back to you when I figure it out, whenever that is :P
